Hi guys. Im new to the forum and just thought I'd say hi. Im looking to purchase a Clubsport S if possible. Really after one in tornado red. Seen a few sitting about at the high 30's however it'll be driven about so won't be a collectors piece. Any help much appreciated.
Many thanks and thanks for the forum.

Hi And welcome Craig, have you checked the one at Hills of Lymington?

This. Its got full PPF aswell, massive bonus. Just needs a good polish on the exhaust and shes a beauty
-
Hi guys.
Thanks for that. Is this not Sidways Sid car? The one that’s been abused to death. Full body PPF is a plus though.

Yes - you are correct. Noticed by the Reg.
What a shame
-
Defo not interested in that car then. I’m sure a mint tornado red one will come up at some point. Oh and it must come with the mats also 😂. Seen a few with them missing.
-
Hadn’t heard of sideways Sid till this post.... yeah I wouldn’t buy it either having watched 1 of his vids.
-
There was a mint black one for sale recently on the CS thread which I shared and think was snapped up with only 6k on for £33k so high £30s is too much.
Still actually online http://www.millenniumheroes.com/cars/vw-golf-clubsport-s-for-sale/

Thanks for the link mate. I think a forum member has bought it. I’m really looking for tornado red. I would have white but I’m kind of fed up with white as it’ll be my fourth white car.
Local ish guy to me has one for sale but it’s white. It’s advertised at £32500 but he paid £31k for it and not budging on price. Plus no AC either which I’d take but think it’ll put people off.

I think with something in as low numbers as a CSS, colour isn't going to be an option...
Mileage/condition/price are probably all you can get to choose from...
Just my two penny's worth

Welcome Craig. You missed out on a 12 mile red CSS at Divine Automotive a few weeks ago. It went for £36,750.
I'd speak to Tom @ Divine, he has a knack for finding them. He has sold a few CSS's in the last year - 12, 300 and 800 mile cars.
-
I just bought this car cover from Tom at divine

I’ve got a tornado red 1850 miles 2 vw services done. I’d sell for the right money but happy to keep it
-
Love the car colour and love the cover. Send me some details pal and an idea of your figure and I’ll see if we can drum up a sale. My M140 is going tomorrow. It’s only got 410 miles on it. The engine is epic piece of kit.

Don’t think you can receive messages till you make more posts?

To be honest black is my least fav colour choice too - and this is my second black CSS. But its such a special car I could not NOT buy this one.

Hi Everyone. New to the forum and also looking for a CSS. The prices are all over the place at minute. The best value one was on pistonheads for a few weeks and just sold last week for £27500. The one at the VW Dealer in Swindon was on at 34800 last week, it’s just been put up to over 35000! Any way good luck in hunting one down.
-
Hi dude above. Thanks for the input but this is my search for a Clubsport S so start your own thread! LOL.
On a serious note have you seen this car?
https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/volkswagen/golf-gti-mk7/volkswagen-golf-gti-clubsport-s--rare-non-air-con--ppf--service-plan/9460201
I’ve contacted him and he seams a decent enough guy but it does not have air con and has three owners. Plus I know he paid a good bit less than what it’s advertised at. That be decent for you?
-
Hi Craig,
Yes, he has had for sale on and off for nearly a year. Its been down at 31995 and whilst non-aircon is a bonus, if you were using it regularly I would prefer to have aircon. But its in very good condition.
Cheers
-
Cool. I would say no air con is a negative tbh. Appreciate it’s the ethos of the car but I’m not having sweaty balls driving around just to save 15kg 😂
-
I'm amused at the selling approach. Calling a car without aircon rare. I had a dealer telling me that red was the rarest colour to justify a silly price and factually, maybe that's true but you could say that it's the least desirable colour as well.
It feels like you're saying that 3 previous owners is a negative thing? It's quite easy to get to that on limited supply cars, you can't infer what you would on a normal production model with multiple owners. It's usually in the hands of the third owner by the time the car even gets run in. A friend of mine has a 6 owner CSS with 1400 miles on it.
You have to buy these cars on condition otherwise you'll be on a perpetual search and as time goes on, those low/no mileage cars will push into ridiculous collector premiums.
Good luck with the search and pictures when they arrive please.

I agree regarding the owners number of owners opinion. I’m currently in discussions with someone regarding their car so we shall see what happens. I’ve trawled through loads of videos on YouTube. And shocked at the sideways Sid driving behaviour on public roads. No wonder that cars still for sale lol.
-
Everyone to their own, but there's no way I would buy a car that was under 2 years old with more than one owner, limited edition or not and if that I meant I had to wait for months or longer to find one, so be it. Maybe it's because I'm an old fogey and it's the way I've always approached car buying. I have noticed that younger generations to me don't seem to be bothered by the number of owners. When I ask friends sons/daughters how many owners their "new" car has had, they never seem to know.

Agree with this generally. But this is a car without back seats. Many people buy then realise it’s not worth keeping a car you can’t do the school run in, however good it is to drive.
When I come to buy my elise in a few years, I won’t be too put off by the car having a few owners

Fingers crossed in the negotiations.
I went to a cars and coffee at a Porsche dealership a little while ago and Sideways Sid left in a cloud of tyre smoke and was an absolute tit. If he'd gotten it wrong, there were bystanders on both sides of the road including a number of children. I appreciate that editing doesn't show whether he has spotters or whether he is on quiet roads at dead times and so on so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt in that he took all safety precautions. But the cars and coffee incident, that was pure reckless stupidity and that's not me being a kill joy.

That’s not being s killjoy at all. In one of his YouTube videos, his standard of driving on public roads was certainly pure reckless stupidity; behaviour such as accelerating over a hump back bridge in a Fiesta ST and becoming airborne with all four wheels off the ground is downright irresponsible on public roads, where there’s a risk of injury to other road users or damage to other cars or property.

It's what happens with unregulated media and a low cost of entry on to the YouTube platform along with the promise of a 'champagne lifestyle'.

It wasn't a criticism, just an observation and I'm interested in a different perspective.
With 150 UK cars, I've heard that Tornado Red was the least popular colour and that there are around 20-30 cars in red. This is entirely unqualified as a figure but I've heard it a few times from different people so either the same rumour recycled or maybe some truth in it. If you assume a few of those have been flipped, multiple owners, some have higher mileage because they've been used as intended which rules them out for this buyer, you're not left with a huge pond to fish when you get down to those who are selling of those 20-30 cars.
The fact that previous owners doesn't appear on documentation anymore probably accounts for why you've noticed younger generations not taking this into account.
A car could have 1 previous owner who treated the car terribly - thrashed it from cold and had no mechanical sympathy whereas a car with 3 owners (first owner flipper, second owner dealer, third owner enthusiast) may have lived a far better life.
-
I think everyone holds an opinion when it comes to owners, we’d all love a 1 careful Dr owner who used it on a weekend to drive to church and garaged it over night. Thing is what’s to say the one owner isn’t a plum like sideways Sid? Surely then you’d want to dilute it with none reckless people?
-
Unless you know the previous owner, 1, 2 or 3 owners makes FA difference in reality. Apart from people are still put off my multiple owners on a 2-3 year car.
My Ducati Hyperstrada was 2 years old when I purchased it last year with 10k on. It's been used, properly. But it's mint, with a warranty and I've only managed to put 800 miles on it since July so not looks low mileage for 3 years old!

Even back when we were boys, we would have a spotter making sure the road was clear before seeing who could jump over a hump back bridge the furthest. Kids today eh!!!

Rite of passage to have a bit of fun and muck about in cars if you're a teenage boy and I think it made me a better driver for it.
-
We learned to drive as kids on the village farm. I was 9, taught by a 12 year old in the old Bedford pickup with column change. We got up to all sorts of antics down the farm tracks and around the fields. But d'ya know what, by the time we got our licenses, there was very little "watch this" as driving was no big deal.
It's a bit like letting your kids have a little drink at home. If something is forbidden, when the shackles are broke free of, all hell is often let loose. (apart from the Gates Lane railway bridge. Have a look on Google Maps SY7 8DL)

My Mrs is a Doctor, I can assure you all her previous cars, and that of her colleagues are absolute sh!t tips inside and parked by Braille.
