Hello all
Looking for some expert knowledge, I have acquired a 1.8T ARX engine which I believe is from an Octavia, but it came as an engine only. The engine is ready to be used again, so my intention would be to put into a golf mk4 etc. The problem is, I don’t have the ecu, loom, keys or clocks etc. How do I get around knowing what ecu I would need for this engine, and would I be able to use that ecu (with attached loom) in a golf obviously after reprogramming?
Thank you for reading. Any help is appreciated .

I would expect the engine itself to be plug and play...... I doubt very much the Skoda ECU or harness is compatible with the Golf, and clocks certainly won't physically fit in your dash.
I suggest to check through the ancillary parts on both engines, inc connector types on harness and see whether they tally up. After all there's only so many things to plug in and bolt up.
I'd be interested to see if you find anything, as I expect to be doing this (putting in a lower mileage VAG lump) at some point in the life of my mk4.
