I disconnected the unit on my Mk 7 very easily.
However, when trying to do the same on my new. 7.5 I find access to the area so difficult that I have had to give up for now.
Has anyone had the same problems and what is the solution?
PS: I am quite familiar with member’s individual opinions on the subject of this feature so please stick to the practicalities if responding.
Thanks to any respondents.

Why not just set it to 0% sound output using VCDS or similar?
-
It will be pretty much zero if you set it to eco in the individual driver mode settings.

Thanks for the responses guys, the noise does disappear more or less when I’m in eco or set to eco in individual which is good, it genuinely didn’t sound like a noise that could be caused by something like that but I stand corrected. I’ve booked it in to Pulman who are about 30 miles away but £66 less for the same service so least that covers the fuel and a nice excuse for a daft blast out. Always interesting to see what courtesy car I’ll get as well. Could be fun to drive an up!

My apologies replied to wrong topic.

This ^^
I hated the Soundaktor in my Octy vRS, as it was just too loud in anything other than eco. Bearable when in normal mode.
In the Golf 7.5 individual mode allows you to have the engine in sport mode with a lot less artificial noise.

How do you disconnect it?
-
I cant notice any difference if im in sport mode or eco mode with the soundaktor, same if I adjust the volume with carista, theres a good chance the previous owner may have disconnected it beforehand

I’m another advocate of just switching the mode into Eco in Individual.
I prefer to have all factory electrical plugs plugged in!
I did change the settings with VCDS down to about 30% in my 2013 GTI and 2015 R but running the soundaktor in Eco in my 2017 CS gives a similar or possibly lower volume of fakeness allowing the real noise through (which is far more pleasant).

I disconnected mine about a week into ownership and would do it again if I changed my car.
