Hi Guys,
Just picked up my GTI Clubsport today which I’m already very much in love with. As always the whole world and it son wants a spin out in it. One of the lads seemed to think that the a valve was not opening fully and making a low rev gurgle noise when accelerating. Now I put this down to a noise the car was supposed to make, its sounds throaty to me and almost like its meant to be there. It’s not the rasp you get on gear change and it only presents itself in sport and comfort mode (to a lesser extent). The cars still under warranty and I’m sending it for a service in the next couple of weeks. Just wondered if any one can cast any light on this. Hard to describe a noise so apologies.

Probably the soundaktor. You might be able to adjust it's level via the menus on the touch screen, on older cars like mine you can't. If you can then turn right down and see if the noise goes.
Welcome by the way  What colour/spec have you gone for? A picture or two is always good

Cheers Watts, oh brilliant I’ll give that a try, I’ve not had chance to have a good play yet gone from a 8p s3 so I’ve got a lot of new toys to get used to. I went for white, 5 door because I’m getting on, DSG because I’m getting lazy, winter pack and Dynaudio which I thought wouldnt live up to my Bose.... and has surpassed all expectations! I’ll get some pictures up over the weekend or tomorrow if I can catch some daylight.

Welcome aboard GTIP!
It sounds a bit of a mysterious noise, but as above it could well be the soundaktor and that would be the first and easiest thing to eliminate.
Put your settings into Individual, shove everything in Sport but the engine sound into Eco. That’ll pretty much nullify the Soundaktor so you’ll soon see if the noise is coming from elsewhere, be it a loose hose or even a modification a previous owner has made.
What is the car’s history? How many miles has it done?
Once the silly fake noise has been switched out you’ll also appreciate how good the actual Clubsport exhaust can sound so your Dynaudio might take a back seat!
Oh, and get a pedalbox, it’ll really bring the car to life.

I have the sound in comfort on mine so you can get more of the exhaust sound!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. It doesn’t appear to be the soundaktor. Tbh I like the noise, just when someone puts the idea in your head it can unnerve you. I’m going to whip it into my local VAG specialist to have a listen. I don’t think it will be a mod, Car’s 1 owner, 8,000 miles and judging by the presets on the radio perhaps an older gentleman. I’ve got nothing to compare it to as I’ve only previously driven the GTI performance.

Having had a PP GTI, R and Clubsport I’ve not noticed a gurgle.
I’ll be interested to know what the techies make of it.
