Has anyone specced it? Does it dictate text messages and send them? Cheers
-
I use it through android auto and works pretty well most of the time. It does however forget to send some messages. Not got the vw voice command enabled though.

I have it. No it neither dictates sms messages nor reads them afaik.
Android auto does but depending on whether Google have updated it and broken it this week, sometimes it doesn't send them. It says it has, but it might not.

Cheers.Ok. It obviously changes radio stations on command and sat nav. But will it be Northumbria friendly?

I’ve used a couple of times messing about to dictate a text message with my iPhone plugged in

'Voice activation' (£200) is totally separate to Car-Net ‘App-Connect’ (Apple CarPlay and Androidauto) which is free on the GTI. The 'Voice activation' option is voice commands only for the car's in-built telephone, music & nav system functions, nothing else.
'Voice control' is built into Car-Net ‘App-Connect’ (Apple CarPlay and Androidauto) which comes as standard with the GTI, and allows you to text, WhatsApp etc using voice. You do not need to have the £200 voice activation option to have voice control over ACP/AA, it's built in and uses the cars mic etc.

Cheers. Seems a waste of time. I.ll have a look at Andriod Auto

I have it, it’s a massive waste of time. The mk6 version is better on the RNS510. Just doesn’t compute very well.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to get the voice control button on the steering wheel to work with CarPlay without paying for the VW voice control function to be enabled?

As said above, the button works with CarPlay/Siri as standard, the £200 ‘voice control’ option only connects the Mic to the cars Nav/Phone etc, it has nothing to do with CarPlay.
CarPlay/Siri uses a long press of the button to work, and if the £200 option is ticked then a short press will work the VW voice control.

Aha... I didn’t see the key word ‘long’ press - which works.
I was pressing it once only to be told it wasn’t activated. Cheers.
