Title: wot is it??

as u look in the engine of my 8v gti, there is a yellow coil pack type thing rivoted to the drivers side body work just under the headlights, wot is it and wot does it do??
mines go two wires from it one of which is broken

dim dip resistor, turns on the headlamps dimly when you switch on the sidelights, not a legal requirment so bin it.  If you follow the wires up they lead to a 2 pin plug, I just unpluged it & ripped the wires off mine :)

I use A1 in Wokingham, loads of MK2s & Audis in there :)
