I’m back at the dealer tomorrow, but feeling a little impatient and would like to check the standard spec of the Golf R runouts. The two that I’m particularly interested in are keyless and the reversing camera - are these now standard trim on the last of the R models? The VW website suggests so but it’s difficult to find a definite answer.

Perfect, it looks as though my options dilemma is no longer a dilemma!
Thanks!

Order placed! Already at UK port, so 1st March delivery should be a given. Mk7.5 R in Indium Grey with Spielbergs.
-
Well done sir! Indium is lovely. My dad has an indium Tiguan and the gti I looked at yesterday was indium too.
I’ll be ordering next weekend.
-
Must admit it’s my favourite of the current palette. In an ideal world I would have specc’d Dynaudio, but couldn’t be too choosy on the deal I’ve got.
-
Fantastic
Mine would be an R in Indium with Prets. Debadged. Subtle and fast.

No option for Prets (without leather) on the dealer stock that I was looking at I’m afraid, would’ve preferred Prets but the Spielberg are nice enough.

Im in a similar area to you Brett, would you mind sharing what you have been offered (PM me if you prefer?) please?
I am thinking of swapping my 14 plate Mk7 Gti for either a 7.5 performance or a 7.5 R.
I have been offered a 5 door DSG 18 plate performance in Oryx, 8k miles ,with Santiagos and a few other bits on it for £12k cost to change (so 14 grand trade in for mine) but I dunno if its really a good deal compared to perhaps getting a new one? I have never bought brand new before.
Cheers.

Even though Pret's look better, given the problems surfacing with them I think you dodged a bullet. It would appear Prets are having the same cracking/disforming problems that the 21" wheels have on the RS6. Soft as butter.

Has anything changed with regards to the GTI and WLTP spec when compared to the standard?

Looks like stuff like reversing camera etc are standard now, to be honest though there’s a bit of confusion surrounding spec at the moment - the dealers weren’t 100%!

Yes, for post WLTP MY19 the normal GTI 230 was dropped, leaving the GTI Performance, which got Rear Camera, Keyless, Lane Assist, Dynamic Light Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition added as standard equipment.
The confusion comes because these options only became standard from mid December build (not registration!) onwards, although VW didn't see fit to tell anybody!). So if it's a MY19 build from Nov to mid Dec then there may be the options missing. My MY19 was a Nov build and arrived at the dealer with the Keyless and Rear View Camera, but it had the other options missing (which form part of a £650 pack). I had that pack cost refunded.

Great thanks for the info.

So essentially, best case is the I’ve ordered is that it will have all the above, worst case is that it’ll have keyless and the reversing camera? They’re my two “non-negotiables” so while getting an earlier build isn’t the best result, it’s not a deal breaker either. Car is at UK port but I’ve no idea how long it’s been there for.

Sadly not, best case is you'll have it all, but there are a few people who have taken delivery of their MY19 cars which had none of the things (Keyless, RVC, pack) on it, so worse case is you'll not have any of it unless it was specifically option specced by you/dealer...

Bit of a throw of the dice it seems then. I did specifically discuss keyless and RVC with the dealer though, so if it transpires that this particular car doesn’t have it then I’ll see if I can take a look at other pipeline stock.

You'll also be missing 10bhp....!

That I can live with, I’m still gaining 70bhp vs the GTI ha!

Yes, and in this weather you'll be able to put all the power down!

The car has arrived at the dealers, not a bad turnaround!! Salesman thinks that the car was heading to their site as a stock vehicle anyway, so I’d got the order in just before it was due to arrive.
Anyway, they’ve sent the spec sheet through, and according to that it has got all of the W51 onwards spec!
