Title: Clicking noise when I pull away turning
Post by: Jimmy Jenks on 27 January 2019, 07:19
Hi folks,

I’ve just got hold of a 65 plate GTI and I love it, but noticed that when I pull away from a turning I get a kind of clicking noise from the front is this a drive shaft problem & how do I rectify it

Could be sticky drive shaft boots but a bit more description of the noise would be helpful. Is it a loud mechanical click? Plasticky click? A knock?

Sounds like a worn cv joint
Have a look at the rubber boot at the end of the driveshaft next to the disc. If it’s split it may have let dirt in which has caused the cv joint to wear prematurely
That would make the clicking sound

This would be my guess too.
