Title: Ctek charging via cigarette lighter ?
Post by: Rob_benton on 22 January 2019, 10:06
Hi

I’ve permanently lived my cigarette lighter, is it safe to charge via the cigarette lighter as I have stop/start ?

I’m concerned reading other posts about the stop start modules connected to the battery.

Also, I have a EFB battery, do I set my Ctek to a normal charge or a AGM charge ?

Thanks

I’m not sure if you mean leave something on charge with the car locked up or your worried about when the engine isn’t running in stop/start, if the later then I wouldn’t worry as when the battery gets to a certain point of charge (before the car won’t start) the car will start to charge it

Sorry I wasn’t clear.
I meant to charge the car battery with my ctek battery charger via the cigarette lighter with a cteck adapter.

Suppose that will be ok, but I’m not sure what the wires in the car can handle, but I suppose if it has a 7.5amp fuse then the wires should be over that (as the fuse is the weekest leak)
So 5amp shouldn’t be a problem and that would charge a 65amp battery in 12hours (max)
