Hi
I’ve viewed 2 gti’s and both seem to be missing the black square trim around the sensor.
Is this a common problem that they go missing?
Both were 2014 cars if that makes any difference.
If I buy a new trim are they easy to fit ?
Thanks

Should just clip on but if you're buying from a dealer then they should replace it.
-
It does indeed just clip on, and they aren't that firm a fitting either.
5 or 6quid from memory, can get part number and price if that helps? But as mentioned if buying from dealer point out anything like that for them to agree on replacing before going ahead

Thanks for the replies.
The car I’ve put a deposit on is a private, just thought it was strange it was missing on 2 cars.
Another question, I’m coming from a BMW Z4 and the Z4 forum had a bmw dealer that gave us a discount and free postage. Does this forum have a deal set up for members with a dealer ?
Looking forward to picking up my first dsg pp 2014 next week.
Thanks

I don't think there is. I can help with any part numbers/prices. You can find a nearby TPS and maybe secure trade cash prices from them discount normally 2-10% depending on part.
Otherwise these guys do a bit of discount and mail order...

The trim piece should clip into place and then shouldn't fall out. The only way to remove it is to pull it off.

Update
Went to look at the car again today and thought I’d have a look inside the bumper grill.
And there was the sensor trim sitting at the bottom! So I’ve now popped it back in place.
Lucky I didn’t go and order one !

That's lucky, I've lost one before it either got hit with a stone and flew off or someone robbed it.
Are you buying the car?
-
Yes I’m buying it. Bit worried about the oil leak on my other thread but hopefully it’s just the sump plug weeping. I’ll chase the garage when it gets serviced in a couple of days.
I’ve made the mistake of googling other oil leaks on gti forums ! ....

The owner of the car gave me some photos of when they chose the car in the showroom nearly 5 years ago.
The car has been pdi’d and serviced by Vw 3 times.
Look closely and you can see the trim missing from when it was brand new.

Could they not give you any info about the oil leak?

It seems the cars just been a second family car.
I’ll find out more tomorrow

What does the trim look like?
-
Square piece of plastic that surrounds the acc sensor.
