Hi people, been lurking but this is my first post.
Have a bit of a dilemma, looking for advice.
Ordered a 7.5 GTI, Atlantic Blue with lots of extras in late November. Currently 'processing order'. Hoping to get it by March sometime.
Originally test drove with local dealer, but was then offered a bit better deal from another dealer on carwow, so went with that.
Ok, so now, the base price has gone up, but 2 of the options I ordered (keyless and rear camera) are standard. Plus the new finance is 3.6 instead of 5.5 %.
Dealer refuses to knock the price of the options off, or offer the new finance rate on the current order. Best they'll do is cancel the order, and do a new order at the new price, with the same spec. With the 3.6 % finance this will be about 25 quid a month cheaper on PCP. But I'll join the back of the queue.
Original local dealer told me that any price changes or spec changes would be a win-win, as they'd just knock the cost off. But this dealer isn't playing ball.
Anyone in the same situation or had any luck with getting the new finance rate on a current order?
Should I stick to my guns and try to get him to just knock the cost of the options off and offer me the better finance rate?
Thanks for any help!

As per my recent thread here (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=284513.0), my dealer matched the 3.6% and also the max discount on the car following MY19 spec changes.
Personally I would 'walk', because as the 245 now has WLTP sign off, cars are arriving, being built, and available with very short delivery times.
I do know my dealer has at least 2 other cars physically on site (other cancelled orders that randomly turned up) ready for immediate delivery, and access to many others (they are the biggest dealer in London!) with very quick delivery. So if you want me to put you in touch with him, give me a shout and I will happily make an intro so you can get the max discount and 3.6%.
The only fly in the ointment might be if you have a P/X, and what that is etc etc, but no harm in having a chat as they gave the best price for my P/X that any other dealer would.
Anyway, shout if you do want an intro. I pick mine up on the 6th of Jan, so I can have a word then also.

Cut out the dealer and speak to VW directly. If other dealers are matching current finance deal I’d be surprised if VW don’t overrule the dealer.

I got the matched finance offer the day I collected the car. It was as simple as redoing the finance agreement and getting it re-approved. Saved me £29 a month over 48. So nearly £1500

Thanks for the advice everyone.
I'm going to talk to my dealer next week - it seems like VW are off for the hols, so should have a better idea in the new year.

The refund on the options will be underwritten by VW assuming the car/build falls within the guidelines they work with. The dealer discounts and claims back in my experience.
The whole of the motor trade goes into a bit of a hibernation patch between Christmas and New Year traditionally. I ordered one of the last of the mk7 production cars around Xmas 2016 and it was really hard getting anything out of the dealership until after the New Year.
You *should* get the option of the latest finance deal on collection.

There is no way that the dealer should not give you a new finance quote to get the better APR rate. Ring up VWFS to secure a new agreement and do not sign off on the original finance deal at collection time as the new offer should be on the table. Your dealer is being a arse in seemingly trying to block access to the new and considerably better rate.
Although I doubt they are obliged to, morally they should give you a refund on options ticked which are now standard.
VW dealerships are having a hard time of it right now, with a strangled supply of cars to sell thanks to WLTP - they should be bending over backwards to retain your custom right now. If your car has a lot of options on it, they will find it hard to sell it as a stock car without generous discount if you walk away.

I remember a colleague of mine ordering a Golf with an option that became a freebie bundled with the MY he received.
Despite a fight, he never got the money back that he paid for the option.
Just saying...

I was the same when I ordered a Tiguan. I specced the winter pack for the heated seats but then VW decided to throw in free leather which included the winter pack. Salesman just couldn't understand why I wanted the money back and said I was getting free leather seats! Had to get VW customer services involved.

It depends on the circumstances.
If it becomes a genuine freebie then they should refund your money. However, if in the meantime your option becomes standard equipment and the RRP goes up correspondingly, you have 2 choices:
1. Keep the old order as it is.
2. Apply the new price to your order as per what the car and other options cost on the new price list.
If the equipment that made your options are no longer available as an option or standard fit, then you should get your money back for whatever now won't be fitted to your car.
