maneuver braking in reverse in the golf... Anyone else experiencing this system having a mind of its own? As i reverse from my parking lot, barely moving and always in a straight line, it decides to brake, usually very abruptly. Not always but often enough to piss me off..
-
No that’s not normal. Is auto hold activated ? Is your seatbelt on ?
-
Only had it once when someone walked close across the front radar while reversing.
-
I’ve had three Mk7’s and they have all done it occasionally when reversing down my drive into the garage. Initially thought it might be a problem but seeing as they have all done it at the same spot realised it’s just doing it job.

Turn the auto hold off.
-
If you are going really slowly, controlling the car on the brakes, sometimes it will think that you have stopped and put the auto hold on.
-
Auto hold wouldn’t stop the car abruptly at slow speed. Sounds more like the active braking. Maybe a bush or something is triggering it? You can turn the active braking off in settings but mine saved me a while back so it stays on.

mine does it too, its very annoying, didnt know what the f**k it was when it first happend
thought my car was broke ,,done it a few times going forward too ,in car parks , look like a right tit when me just stops for no reason
-
Yup - I’d only had the car a week when it did it, I thought I reversed into a bollard at the local shop , got out of the car quite sheepishly but was a mile away.
-
Yeah it does it some times, don't worry about it.
Its also saved my bacon a few times so I'd not recommend turning it off.
However the false alarms don't bode well for the next generation of automated driving...

much appreciated guys so it is happening to others... i'll just let it be for now then. I guess its small price to pay for the one time that it will save my a**
