When did you get confirmation your car was in the UK? I'm trying to gauge when mine will arrive at the dealers.

Post by: Sootchucker on 17 December 2018, 08:27: Make sure excitement doesn't get the better of you and check the car over thoroughly. Check all options (if any) you selected have been fitted. Ensure bodywork is in pristine condition (mine had a small scratch on the wing that needed sorting), then all the usual's like tyre pressures, locking wheel bolt, Sat Nav SD card etc.

It's very easy to get overwhelmed when you have been waiting for so long (I know, I've been there), so just take your time and check it over carefully.

I'm collecting mine at 4pm tomorrow. Sorting the insurance is a pain without a registered reg number though lol

Hope it all goes well, and hopefully it will be parked in good lighting conditions, so you can check it over carefully / thoroughly.

Hopefully, everything will be OK but it’s not unknown for a brand new car to have minor imperfections - I’ve had new VW’s in the past that have had uneven panel gaps, minor scratches and paintwork swirls when I’ve gone to collect them. Fortunately, my previous and current one have both been OK. You do need the opportunity to check it over though, so if it was me, I’d contact the dealer before collection time to ensure it’ll be inside in a well lit building.

Yeah I asked about that but it was quicker to do the swap with my current insurance company. Just had to go through the manual car selection.

When I spoke to the dealer today he explained the road tax had increased but "obviously we will foot that cost". He was pretty good about it and apologised for the length of time, so can't say fairer than that.

Post by: ChrisG84 on 20 December 2018, 22:36: Picked my new baby up this evening, the dealer honoured the seventh month old trade in value as well which I was pleased with.

Only done about 40 miles and had a little tinker with the normal/sport/individual settings but not much else - so much more tech than my old car it's mind blowing.

Definitely made the right choice though, looking forward to exploring more in the coming weeks! Will learn how to upload photos too!

Managed to get most of it setup including car net and android auto then thought I'd try mirrorlink. That didn't go so well so ended up resetting the lot and starting again this time giving the mirrorlink a miss lol
