Hi All,
I plan to swap my 19inch Santiago Alloys for a set of Sevilla GTD alloys with winter tyres shortly.
Will the existing wheel bolts for the 19inch alloys fit ok, and are there any other differences that I should be aware of when swapping 18 for 19inch alloys?
Any thoughts would be very welcome.
(Also looking for a new 19 inch Santiago Alloy, if anyone is considering selling one)

Shouldn't be much to worry about, as long as you fit OEM wheels and the correct tyre size (225/40/18);-

If I was going to fit a set of winter wheels, I’d go for a set that are powder coated / painted rather than a set of diamond cut Sevilla alloys. A powder coated / painted finish is much more durable and better suited to winter weather than a diamond cut finish, and no risk of the dreaded white worm corrosion either.

Thank you for the info re tyre size.
Totally agree on the white worm, it has destroyed two of my existing alloys.
Are there any OEM GTI, GTR, R 18 inch powder coated alloys?

Not cheap, but nice.

There’s the GTI version of the Sevilla alloys - dark anthracite grey with a red pinstripe around the rim. They seem to divide opinion; a bit of a ‘Marmite’ wheel. There’s also the Rotary (18”, anthracite grey) and Motorsport (available 18” black, but available in anthracite on on some websites), both are available as VW accessories, but not as factory fit alloys.
I had the Rotary’s on my mk6 GTD - not as a winter wheel, but for all year round use.
Rotary and Motorsport alloys are both on the website at the link below, along with a number of other powder coated / painted alloys. Unfortunately, I don’t think they ship to the UK, but the website includes details of each wheels’ part number so should help you source a set if you find any you like. The wheels on the website include details of model usage, so you can see which wheels are suitable for the mk7 / 7.5 GTI.

I have just bought these, and put on Bridgestone A005, All season tyres.

They look great and a good price.

I've got the anthracite Sevilles, I didn't pick them, the ex-demo car was otherwise what I wanted so I let them slide.
They've grown on me a little, but ultimately they're still getting demoted to winters when I find some 18x8s I like. Speedline Turinis, ATS GTR.. something light and tough.
I'd like them more if I could work out if the red stripe can be removed?? They hide filth brilliantly.

A wheel refurber could remove the red stripe if you really wanted to. About £120 a wheel and you can have them finished with whatever finish you want.
I rather like those wheels, even the red stripe.

Do they come with TÜV certification ?

They come with JWL and VIA certification, not sure about TUV.

Personally, I think those Seville (with an e!!) wheels in that colour look
I actually like them on the GTD but they look overcomplicated in graphite and the red stripe makes them look like a cheap set of boy racer rims!

I've ordered these wheels on a new Issac Blue car which i am waiting for. Hopefully they will look OK as they are bit Love/Hate but i must admit to having some concerns whether they will look the part. Anyone else out there with these on an Issac blue 5 door GTIP

I’m not convinced they’re going to look nice on a dark car, but you never know.

I think they will look great TBH. You've already got GTI red highlights elsewhere, I think these will set it off nicely.

Don't take the red stripe off, they'll look even worse! (Sorry).

Scirocco alloys are mostly powder coated designs and fit the mk7 well, they’re quite cheap and would be ideal for winter wheels.
-
Thank you for all the suggestions here.
I ended up getting the standard 18inch 7.5 GTi alloys.
The price for 4 x 19 inch winter tyres = 4 x 18 inch alloys (albeit second hand) & associated 4 x winter tyres... No contest really.

I swapped the 19s for the 18s with winter tyres today. I phoned the insurers, Admiral, to let them know I'd swapped them over and guess what. They wanted to charge me a £19.50 charge for an alteration to the policy.
I tried to explain that this change was making the car safer during winter. Computer said no.
Incredible.

Most insurance companies these days don't require you to tell them if you're on winter tyres as long as you don't run non-OEM wheels in the process, so i've stopped bothering.
If you are going to tell them though, it's better to tell them at the start of the policy that you'll be running winter tyres in the winter, otherwise you may be giving them an excuse to charge another £20 when you tell them you've changed your wheels back again.

This one of the main reasons I'm with Direct Line now. They don't charge a fee for changes.

Yep, just done this with esure. Told them I will be fitting winter wheels as soon as I pick the new car up. 44 quid including admin charge for changing car from 2016 GTI PP 230. (inc Winter Wheel change). quite happy with that.

I’m not sure a car insurer should be charging additional premiums, see attached document from the abi.

As per usual in rip off Britain any excuse an insurer has to extract more money from a customer!!
