Hi,

I've a 6 month old 245PP in Tungsten, and I'm amassing bits for a little sharper stop & go (around things).

Plan:
Endless MX-72
Clubsport S discs
RS3 brake coolers
Braided lines and SRF/Other
SuperPro arms
Clubsport S rear ARB

VCDS tweeks to LSD and ESP settings.

The pads landed this morning from R53 Engineering. I realise they're twice the price of normal pads, however I ran them on my M135i and that did well over 30k and 5 trackdays on a set with very little disc wear either... so the equivalent cost per mile is the same as cheaper stuff.

I also fancy some 18x8s and 235 rubber, I assume the arches will accommodate these ok so long as I don't burst  something like an ET45 offset??

Am I missing anything obvious that makes a nice difference? Must be reversible.
I don't want to mess with the suspension too much at this stage, I favour tracks like Oulton which require a softer setup anyway.
I don't want to map it, it's fast enough to be fun.

Are you sure you want to go with CSS discs? From what I've read they have an inherent flaw in that both discs are the same way round ie on one side they aren't vented correctly. Results in premature warping and replacement. Perhaps consider an aftermarket alternative?

If this is right, I'll stick with solids. It was more for the 1KG saving per side in weight than performance.

Just found the article, it was in the December 2017 edition of VW Driver magazine. A CSS, tracked once and 4500 road miles and the right side disc warped. They have directional cooling vanes but the disc on the right side are upside down! For road use they are probably fine but not for the track.

Warped would be rare, more possible the pad melted on that side leaving deposits causing judder. Neither are good though.

Be interesting to get a temp gun on one post session to compare performance side to side. I'll email Birkitt and suggest :)

Definitely warped, the owner had the disc skimmed.
