Title: any opinions on some new alloys??
Post by: AndytheGreek on 10 October 2005, 20:48
just wondered if anyone has some opinions for a new set of alloys for my mk2. its a gti 16v totally standard, the bodywork is near mint but the alloys are in bad shape. the lacquer is peeling on near enough all of them  and i was wondering what you guys would do? refurb the old alloys or buy a new set of 15s??
any suggestions or pictures welcome.

anything of the period would look cool. bbs always look good on mk 2's but can be expensive, keep it simple i'd say, flashy modern wheels look out of place on old cars.

what do you think of wolfrace Voodoo II?

Golf MKII wheel spec. 4X100 PCD et 35mm. would et38mm still fit or the wheels have to be with et35mm?

:)

Don't they say 'VOODOO' down one of the spokes?  :undecided:

yes, voodoo is engraved on one of the spokes.

i would go for BBS if i can afford it.

i think they look cool, they are featured in Max Power modifying manual (16" dia.)

BBS Splitties. I was going to buy a set of these but then I thought theres no way my car could pull em off so I just kept the standard 14" BBS rims.

Then spent the money I saved on coilies!

Doesn't solve your wheel problems though does it?

i've seen a golf with (I think) Azev A's - thye looked good - so did Blue's (Again I think!!) with his Brock B2's.

If I could afford it i'd defo get some bbs splits. They way outta my price range though. I've got a set of bbs corrado g60s which were on my last golf when I bought it. They're quite nice and will do for now!

shamefully i run a set of 15" voodoos. they're ok but they say max power way more than club gti (soon to be replaced with rh classics - black centres, polished lip)-(not to be confused with rh classic-lines!).

there are loads of rims people seem to go for but it does depend on the style of your car. are you pre 90 spec? small bumpers etc? because in that case i'd be tempted by some 14x8 steffans or rh's. there are always ronal turbos although i'd be tempted to search for the early ones! the new rims that dubmeister have in stock are CXN th-mono and they look really nice on a pre 90 car, good money too! post 90 spec, big bumpers etc. the ultimate is bbs splits but they come at a cost! otherwise, try azev, brock, kerscher, ats, schmidt (th-line, ooooo baby ), borbet. it's an ebayfest! good luck
