I'm looking into buying a vw golf gti mk7 but I want to be able to run it on lpg (I do alot of traveling). I've read alot online stating lpg is horrible for modem cars because the fuel injectors tend to go out after a few thousand miles, this dated back a good 8 years ago and recent comments said it's not true anymore? I was wondering if it's still worth it? LPG is now half the price of petrol in the uk and would make a big difference in saving. I never plan to sell my golf once I buy it so re-sell value doesn't matter. I'm aware lpg effects the performance by a tiny bit but if I want to drive it hard I can always switch to petrol while driving.
I couldn't even find any info on new modem golfs being converted but Its really something im intrested in getting done. It would saving me around 600+ a year.
Is it even possible to convert the golf without having problems like the fuel injectors going after a few thousand miles?

What difference does it make to insurance premiums?

£10-20

How much is a lot of travelling? If it's north of 20k then it's probably worth it. You might have more luck Googling EA888 LPG.

Typically LPG returns 20% less miles to the gallon, so factor that in, plus the typical cost of installation is ~2000 quid.
The LPG tanks tend to be quite small too, so unless you are a taxi driver just driving round the same town that has a LPG selling petrol station....
I'm not saying don't do it, but be aware of the gotchas.

@ Jord98
Have you ever converted a car to LPG before?
Your warranty will be immediately void if it still has one and insurance companies hate LPG conversions as it’s not uncommon for the vehicle to go up in flames when an LPG pipe gets rubbed through or superheated and leaks fuel onto the engine.

Sounds like a daft idea, why not just buy a car that is already converted?

You won’t find one already converted.
It’s just a wistful but impractical conversion.
The GTI can do 40mpg on regular 95 unleaded. Better to just leave it standard and enjoy it.

I had an impreza converted to run on LPG, it worked well and getting the fuel was never an issue. It certainly made a difference to my running costs 55p per litre of LPG vs £1.10 per litre of petrol. MPG was reduced though, I dropped from about 18mpg petrol to 17 on LPG. Power was fairly similar but when I was being very enthusiastic it would kick back from LPG to Petrol.

I once had a company Focus estate that been conveyed to LPG, but this would have been around 2002 ish.
It was pretty crap. Issues with switching over, noticeable drop in power on gas, randomly cutting out, no spare tire as it was take up by the gas tank.
Anyway, that was a long time away when LPG was 28p a litre
The main question I’d ask if you’re doing loads of miles, there’s alternative to the GTI which looks very similar, has all the same kit and is proven to a do lot better mpg. It’s even called Golf!
