Title: Vagcom scanners, OBDeleven - what's it all about
Post by: Patagonian on 30 October 2018, 22:53
This is an area I know very little about so looking for some advice please.
I don't want to get into heavy changes but looking to set up the GMT auto change, throttle response, rear brakes, battery replacement etc.

What's a cost effective option?

OBDeleven uses android and I only have iPhones however I do have an android with no SIM card - would I be right in thinking that you only need it as an interface and therefore don't need a network connection.

You can buy cheap Android tablets from eBay or gumtree or even wait for black Friday deals.

Even accounting for a new but cheap android device, you’ll find OBD is way cheaper than VCDS. I use OBD quite a lot and find it quite straight forward, but I believe VCDS allows for more programming to be done.

I've got a vcds cable but it's only the micro can one so it won't connect to newer Audi's. I'm thinking of buying obd11 just for quickness.

Thanks for responses, looks like I'll go for OBDeleven and hotspot across to my iPhone as the best option.
