How is the spoiler held on for a mk7.5 (same as mk7 I guess).

Bolted on?

It's bonded on at the factory. I was going to get the upper plastic glass on the brake light fixed on mine as it's been pushed in but after speaking to a technician at the dealership I changed my mind.

How strong is the bond....
Wanting to use a bike rack that uses straps that hook over the boot top and they pull on the spoiler...

I wouldn't trust the spoiler to stay on although I did the same as you are wanting to on my previous Tiguan and it was fine.

The best carriers are the tow bar mounted ones, but that means having a tow bar. You will get the tow bar socket for a lighting board tho'. Often overlooked by some people that hang bikes off the back of the car and obscure the lights. Other than that, get them up on the roof out of the way. I have my feet, bars and bike carriers all set up so they can be fitted / removed in a matter of minutes. Probably the same amount of time that it takes to fit my tow bar carrier.

I already have the carrier guys.
I went for the Saris Superbones 3.

Hence asking about spoiler.
