Title: MK7 p/pack dipped beam light fault
Post by: DougUK on 05 July 2018, 20:43
Hello forum, looking for some help please

Dipped beam bulb gone.  I believe the standard lights are bi-xenon (red line through) with corner assist which puts this to D3S territory rather than H7.  Can someone confirm please (63 plate)?

I have scouted out options and Osram definitely the favourite but at £50 ea.  I am unlikely to have the car more than 1 year more so lifespan less important.

Keen to get a colour match if possible (6000k?), not overspend but not compromise on illumination either.

Lumro comes in at £40/pair which is less than half of Osram.

Any views on budget options vs Osram?

I've read up on fitting process and happy to go long way rather than the shortcuts of not removing grille that some have suggestion but welcome views on whether I'm missing an obvious shortcut?

TIA.

Can’t be much help but I’m fairly standard Xenons are around 4300k not 6k which would be much more blue/Corsa SXI colour  :nerd:

Thanks, Jim - you are right but I believe a better match to the DRL and fogs is 6000 - I should have made that point clear.

6000k is still very white with only a tinge of blue and is a perfect match for the LED fogs and my replacement LED cornering lights. I know this as I changed mine to 6000k. The originals are (I think) 5200k. No drop in light output associated with increasing the k value of the bulbs.

I got mine from ebay at the grand cost of around £30 (for 2) a long long time ago. They've worked flawlessly for the 3 years I've had them.
