Title: Check oil level warning Gtd mk7
Post by: agentutah on 05 July 2018, 17:55
Hi all, got my gtd due in for its first 20k service in a couple of weeks time. On the way home today its flashed up with a check oil warning. I've checked level on dipstick and seems to still have a reasonable level although its getting  low, is it worth topping up before now and service do you think?

Anything can happen in 2 weeks.

For the sake of a few quid, i'd top up the oil on my £25k motor

To be honest, if it's between the minimum and maximum on the dipstick, I'd leave it.

On the flipside, if the car's telling you to top it up, I'd do it.

So a post that's absolutely no use whatsoever lol.

Always did it on my Mk7 GTD - with a week to go to an oil change it would moan about the oil level. Add expensive top up oil only to have the garage flush it down the drain shortly after.

Sods law.

My GTI did exactly the same (although I didn't get a warning, was just checking fluids before a long drive). Apart from in the first few months that was the only time it has needed a top up.

thanks all,
yes I bought some Castrol Edge 5w/30 earlier and poured a little in it.  So see if I get any further warnings.
