My car in the last two weeks has developed an irritating rattle which seems to be coming from the glovebox area.
On smooth road its fine, but on bumpy or uneven roads I can hear it.
Done the usual and removed everything from the glovebox and passenger door, even removed the glovebox but can't see anything loose at all.
Have to be honest its driving me mad, has anyone had anything similar or can recommend anything to check / do next?

Sunglasses in the overhead compartment, by the interior lights?

Check the plastic trim behind the rear view mirror. It's in two parts, make sure everything is clipped together properly. Alternatively try driving with the passenger sun visor down, this can also rattle.

I've been caught out by this already

Thanks, will check this next.

Get someone in the passenger seat and get them to listen and locate the source - it can be really hard to accurately locate a rattle when you are driving and the sound can get bounced around deceiving you...

Sunvisor can be a culprit.

I've got rattles from both driver and front passenger doors, very high frequency rattling from the actual door card where it meets the B pillar when closed. Can be stopped by gently pressing on the door card.
Would be worth checking its not that as i know a number of other people have had the same issue, ill be getting my local dealer to look at it when its come to the having the first oil change in a few 1000 miles

My passenger side rattles occasionally, just opening it sorts it out.

Sunvisor is a known issue and VW have a fix for it.

Mine is in the garage tomorrow for the hatch drain pipe to be replaced, I might ask them about that, thanks

They either order an entire visor and clip or adjust the roof lining slightly. Either way it seems to stop the annoying rattle.

Mine has got to go in for the same thing but so far my local dealer has turned out to be as much use as an inflatable dartboard so I'll probably end up fixing it myself!
