Hi All,
I have noticed a rattle coming form the rear of the car when going over those steep speed bumps, the ones that cover the entire width of the road, I think it may be the rear shocks, which I know has been well documented on here, I have done a few searches.
The car is 2014, with 21,500 miles.
My question, how easy it is to get VW to replace under warranty, as there is no recall, is there anything I can quote at the stealer? I read an old thread about fitting Bilsteins B4's and it being cured.
Thanks in advance.

If it's within warranty you shouldn't have an issue.
-
It's within used car warranty, so it might be more of struggle, I'm going get them to look at it during the MOT and service.

Before you panic just make sure the space saver securing nut is tight as if slightly loose it will rattle going over bumps.

Yes or the rear seats not locked in the upright position or the rear centre arm rest being rattly or sunglasses in the overhead cubby hole...

or sunglasses in the overhead cubby hole...
This drives me mad, I often forget about this...

Thanks All, I have already checked and now rechecked all those things and everything is locked down.

Get yourself in the back and get someone else to drive it over some speed bumps so you can hear where its coming from. Fold half the seats down and try it, then fold the other half down and try again - take everything out of the boot and remove the parcel shelf.
There have been too many threads where people suspect shocks only to find its something else...

ok thanks, good idea

Another thing to check is the lever on the side of the passenger side seat that raises it up and down. Mine started rattling after I had the side bolster repaired under warranty. It didn't rattle with someone in the passenger seat though so was hard to track down.

My car still does this its worse now and when going along an uneven road its more clear before it was just on reversing so its booked in for the 9th to get checked AGAIN

My wife's sunvisor rattles no end. It actually sounds like its coming from behind the clock dials!!
Seems to be a known problem with a fix from the dealers. For now though she just keeps the visor down with no rattles.

Took mine in for this and they re adjusted the headlining where the visor clips were. Not sure if that was just BS but visor doesn't rattle any more.
