Just cleaned the GTI
There is a mark on the bonnet, I think its from bug juice. Can only see it in direct sunshine and it basically looks like a small area of dull clearcoat.
I cannot for the life of me get rid of it.
Any tips?

You may have some luck with a polish / cutting compound. If it was only caused by a bug, Auto Finesse tripple should be sufficent by hand. It's a cleaner / polish / light wax all in one. Very useful and easy to use.

First try some tar/glue remover such as Autosmart Tardis. But it sounds like it’s etched into the clearcoat in which case only polishing will remove it. You could try some cutting compound on a foam pad done by hand but a DA polish would be much better.

Thanks, gut feeling was a machine polish.
Can it wait, as in waiting a few months wont do any further harm? I can have a full detail in a few months time by a professional

I'd try the tar/glue remover (tardis) first, then clay bar, then if that doesn't go, compound/polish with DA.
Not sure I'd want to wait too long if it is etching in to the clear coat.
