Title: 3dr seats into 5dr
Post by: nigw on 28 February 2018, 11:39
A friend is stripping his 3dr Mk7 GTI and has offered me his leather seats. My car is a 5dr....would the seats still be a straight swap - and do you reckon it would look odd and/or an issue on resale to have the redundant front seat "fold forward" levers, and fabric door trims instead of leather? I'm not generally a fan of messing round with stuff like this, but I do prefer the leather.

Leather seats are also heated, so unless you’ve got the winter pack in your car, seat heating of the leather ones will also be redundant if you fit these seats in your car. Come resale time, buyers might expect that they’ll be heated - especially when the weather’s like most of us are getting just now.

I’d keep your existing seats. VW leather isn’t the best quality and can also get loose and saggy, which IMO isn’t a nice look.

Yes, they will fit. I'm guessing that the door cards on leather cars will be different so they match the seats, and they obviously won't. They will look odd with the tilt levers, but there's no reason why you couldn't live with that.

If you are set on having them, it would be wise to keep your original cloth seats to re-fit when you sell the car.
