Last Friday having travelled 3 miles in my 6 month old gti pp dsg, switched ignition off and then did shopping for 2 hours, on my return switched ignition on, the radio worked but screen was blank and not responsive to any touch screen therefore no telephone, apps etc and could not change to another radio station. Reverse camera on screen worked OK. On my return home switched ignition off for 10 minutes then switched ignition back on and the screen worked normal and has worked normal ever since. I phoned my local VW dealership, spoke to service department manager who suspects computer update is required. Car goes in to dealership Monday morning. Has any fellow forum member experienced this issue please, cheers.

Hi Alun. It’s always worth using the search facility at the top of the page, which is a quick way of seeing if others have experienced similar issues.
If you search on ‘blank screen’ and restrict the search to the mk7 board using the advanced search option, you’ll see that other forum members have experienced blank infotainment screens.

I would try a hard reset before going to the dealers.

Vw are aware of this problem and they have an update for it. I suffered the same problem a few times on my Nav Pro unit and reported it when the car was in for service and they updated the software, no problems since.

As above, there is a software update which rectifies the issue. I had it done about 6 months ago and haven't had a single issue since.

Thank you for the tip very much appreciated !!!
Car is at the dealers, took it in earlier this morning. Dealership will also give the car a "health check", a wash and a valet.

A dealer giving a car a wash and a valet is not something to get too excited about, the reaction should be more be one of fear...

Very true....My car goes in for it’s second service at the end of the month. The dealer already knows they are not to wash it, but they will be reminded when I take it in, and the ‘do not wash’ hanger will be in place on the rear view mirror, and a tag with the same instruction will be attached to the key.
