Title: Little question on Nav Pro
Post by: Sootchucker on 06 February 2018, 16:58
Hey guys, my weird question of the day. Just a quick inconsequential question on the MIB II Nav Pro.

Was looking at some threads online earlier and noticed that some of the symbols in the task bar at the top of the screen look different to mine.

I have just the below

(https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7333/26796362860_1b79ba207d_b.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/GPUn7d)

In it you can see at the top of the screen I have a mobile phone signal strength meter on the right, and the WI-FI signal strength just left of centre.

On other's I've looked at the Phone strength symbol has a 3g or 4g symbol attached to it, and on others, where my WI_FI signal strength icon is, it's an image of the world (which I guess means internet connection), and in addition some have a little "Bluetooth" icon as well which mine doesn't ?

Is this just a simple matter of VW updating the symbols on later firmwares (mine's 0343), or is there extra functionality on the later units ? Just curious.

The globe thing is the internet connection (used for traffic via carnet). Lit up when its connected, greyed out when its configured but not working (ie you've turned off the wifi hotspot on your phone).

The 3g and 4g I've not seen ever (my is a new NavPro on a 7.5 though). I've only ever got signal strength.

Wonder if the 3g/4g thing only shows up on a non-UK car with a integrated data connection (SIM card in the glovebox)

So the globe symbol simply replaces my “Wi-Fi” logo ?
