Title: alloy wheels/ deflating tyres
Post by: ROBSTER7 on 27 January 2018, 12:13
I have a 66 reg. 1.4 TSI.  Has anyone else suffered issues with tyres that seemingly create repeated warnings of loss of pressure. When checking with local tyre shop they say the alloy has corrosion causing a poor seal to the tyre. This  car is a one year old car  with wheels that are corroded?!

I would recommend taking it back to dealer to have a look i would hope that it is not a corrosion issue but if it is then warranty should cover it in that case.

Welcome Robster7.
Did the tyres actually deflate?
In my experience the biggest cause of loss of pressure warnings are the car being loaded differently to how you normally drive or something heavy like a rear seat passenger on one side on a long steady journey where the car sensors pick up a slight wheel speed anomaly. This triggers a spurious tyre pressure warning but when you check the pressure it's fine. My toe is quite a good tyre pressure gauge when at the side of a busy motorway in the pouring rain!!
