It seems that from
http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/manuals
I need a vehicle identification number to download the manual for a 7.5gti pp that I will be collecting shortly.
I don't want to rely on a couple of minutes of dealer-talk and would prefer to do some homework first. Is there another source of an online manual, or a way to concoct a suitable vin?

If you have your order number, the live chat customer services can give your VIN

Alternatively, pick a registration number of a nearly new 7.5 GTI PP from the Used Cars section on VW’s website as you can access the on line manuals using either VIN or registration number.

thanks, but http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/manuals does seem to need a vin, not a reg.

I am wrong. The website doesn't want a space in the reg number though.

Do you really need to read the manual to drive your car? Why don't you just wait until your car comes or search Google or tubetube for anything.

It says ‘enter your registration or VIN’. I’ve tried the reg no for my Polo GTI and it works.

Yes, I would like to read the manual before collecting the car. I will be driving it across the country and round London and I don't want to be distracted by searching menus etc. and attempting to understand the technology by trial and error.
And there is just idle curiosity which the education system has not completely robbed me of.
I have accessed the manual now. If you use the reg number, a space will confuse the system. I hope this simple software bug isn't representative of the actual car.
