Title: 17” wheels on PP/R/CS
Post by: mkviken on 14 January 2018, 13:47
Just got some 17” Audi TT wheels for my CSS over the colder months

They are a bloody tight fit - just about see daylight between the calliper and wheel

So tight in fact I’m having to get them rebalanced as the weights won’t clear the brakes

Anyone else tried 17s on their R or PP gti etc?

We’re your brakes very close also?

Thanks

When you say tight how tight do you mean?

I’m talking literally the width of a credit card between calliper and wheel

Taking the wheels back in to get the weights moved as far out to the rim as possible...

This has come up before, in some countries 17" wheels are still standard on Mk7 GTIs, so it's perfectly normal, if a little tight, depending on wheel design of course.

I run 17” wheels in the winter on my PP, they fit ok but are quite snug, didn’t need to move the wheel weights

Think it is about 5mm to the weights...so no problem..

Well mine are damn close. Had the weights moved and they miss th fronts there’s maybe 1mm clearance

Rears are close too which I didn’t expect

The calliper actually sits inside the wheel as if they are shaped around each other. Barely any clearance.

One of the weights is just say touching the calliper so I’m going to mark it’s position and move it out a few Mm and stick it down again

They’re from an 08 Audi TT so would expect them to fit fine

marked the position of the weight and removed it and re stuck it a couple of mm further outboard and it misses the rear calliper now. what a faff!

Out of interest what model of Audi alloy are you using or even just the offset?

They’re Audi TT wheels 8” wise with offset ET47
