Just musing on something I've just read over at detailing world, where someone asked what was best to protect the touchscreen in his new Fiesta from finger marks / scratches etc. A number of people mentioned a cut down Ipad protector screen ?
I must admit my Nav Pro is a bit of a fingerprint magnet and when the sun's shining on it it's also highly reflective and difficult to see (looking at images, I can only imagine it's worse on the bigger MK 7.5 Nav pro screen).
So question is, has anyone ever fitted one of these - does it work, do the anti-reflective ones actually help and most importantly, does it affect the operation of the touch screen ?

Hello. This is one of the first things that I did when I got my car. Initally I made my own from the ipad screen guard as you said, but then found that a company acutally makes pre cut ones. My car is a mk 7 though, so I know that your infotainment screen is different, but if you search amazon, they may have brought out ones specific for it as well.
With regards to operation, I acutally went for the gloss ones as opposed to the matt finish. It works very well and I like the finish on it as well. It has no impact on operation, so win win all round!

Interested myself for the mk7.5 8 inch Discover Navigation System...

Nice find, I've put it in my basket.

I had something on my old rns510 from a German company called @Folix. Excellent protection and well worth the money.

Anyone got one of these fitted to 7.5 new touch screen?
Thoughts?

I got one fitted from the UK Amazon link above. It was easy to install and it looks great, however it's not fingerprint proof as advertised but it definitely offers a layer a protection I am very happy with. I will take a photo later.

Yeah unfortunately anything you put over anything that you need to touch with your fingers as going to leave marks as it's the grease on our skin.
Like having a glass screen protector on your phone it gets marks on it.
The only other option are those gloves iv seen wirh pads at the finger if that helps...

I can see the leather driving glove brigade going mad over those lol.

Surely it's a pointless thing to do? The point of fitting a screen protector to say a phone or tablet is to stop scratches not fingerprints. So it will still get covered in fingerprints anyway!
I have std screen in the Mk7.5 and a 20 second clean with a microfibre once a week and it looks perfect.

Agreed Jim, to me this is futile. I have a screen protector on my phone so I don't scratch the screen when i drop it, or scratch it with anything else that it shares a pocket with. Without wanting to tempt fate, in 20 years of driving i've never managed to scratch my radio or sat nav screen. A screen protector won't prevent fingerprints from being seen, you'll still need to wipe it clean, so I fail to see the point.

That's what I thought. Phones get dropped, put face down on tables, slid into pockets. The nav nav screen sits in your dash all day and gets touched by the odd finger tip..

I've no screen protectors on my phone or my 7.5 R's infotainment system. Both look like new with a quick wipe of a microfibre cloth!
