Hello guys! Does anyone know if there is an option to retrofit a climate windscreen to a 2015 mk7 Golf? I understand the cost might not justify the project, I was just wondering if it possible in principle...
Thanks!

Can't see why not, but given the cost of replacement windscreen (first one I needed on my mk7 estate was 1200£ from Autoglass! - not sure how much it cost the second time round about 6 months later) it would be cost prohibitive to start with.
Probably needs high BCM, bit of wiring, relay and an awful lot of coding. Possibly activation with a code by VW, though not sure if this is something that exists.

Plus recalibration of the camera at £360

Isn’t it covered under your insurance with a small excess fee? Just checked with my insurer and it’s £75 for replacement and £25 for repair using Autoglass!

Plus it’d be considered as a modification for insurance purposes as it wasn’t part of the original factory build, so you’d need to declare it to your insurer and give them an opportunity to increase your premium.

yep all access went up to £75 when the front cameras started needing calibrations or so the windscreen fitted told me

So the excess was £75 for the screen to be replaced and calibrated?
-
My excess isn't 75 for windscreen or 25 for repair so the windscreen fitter is talking bo44ocks!!
-
Replacement cost was 1200£ - even if insurance paid (which it didn't as not covered) it would still cost 1200, especially for OPs purpose of upgrade.

on mine yes, but they have to check your insurance to find out, and you need to take it to one of their centres as it can’t be done on the road,

Good to know... I don’t understand why others are paying full whack when the insurance covers it?

I think the OP wants to replace a normal screen with a heated one, and insurance doesn’t cover that,
-
Nobody's mentioned the fact that the OP will have to remove the HVAC control dials & fit a new set which has the button to activate the front heated screen...in conjunction with the front demist..as the far left dial is split into two face parts, front screen/ rear screen.

I have the climate screen on mine and there is no physical button to activate it. It's turned on or off by going into the menu.
My Octavia was different as it had the older style heated screen with wires and this did have a physical button in the central dial.

The touch screen is the main button so to speak...
BUT with the split far left button on the climatronic the front screen also heats up with the demist function....page 288 of my estate owners manual.
So if the OP has the front screen/rear screen split face far left dial all is ok...just needs to VCDS the HVAC module...
Also hope that the wires to the main control module & the required relay are fitted....(just had a look at the ERWIN diagrams..)
