Title: Golf R Estate lease deals
Post by: davyk31 on 24 November 2017, 11:52
VW have released some fairly decent 2 year R Estate lease deals today, about 8k for 2 years on a reasonable mileage. Check all the usual brokers or your dealer.

Also deals on lesser Golfs, Tiguan, Touran etc.

I'd have been quite tempted by the Tiguan R Line offer had I been in a position to push the button. Cheapest i've seen them so far for a 190ps variant.

I keep seeing a Tiguan R line in tungsten silver and God does it look fantastic.

Ditto, that's what set me off. I also see an Indium Grey though and can't decide which I prefer.

If I was getting one it would be either tungsten or oryx.

Anyone ordered a golf r estate with the recent deals?

Massively tempted but being a tight bugger Im stuggling to justify the £25 extra for a lapiz blue.... already have a white GTI DSG on the drive that I got on a cheap lease (£107 a month).

Spoke directly with a dealer who is beating the brokers price.

Two white cars or stop being tight and order a blue R.....

£25 extra for Lapiz?
I thought they'd be knocking money off for it in that colour

The issue is you are paying the full cost of the option over the term, for me on my rental R wagon I went white and only option was CarPlay which was worth every penny.

Lapiz gives away the Q car credentials for me on the estate

Thanks for the reply. Leaning more towards white as I actually like it in white and been looking at all the colours for last hour.

I’m looking now, does car play come as standard now? Cant find it on the Configurator, only something called car-net-app-connect in the standard specification

Hi Darlo

Car-net / App connect is standard on all Mk7.5 cars except for the 'S' trim.

Some options aren't charged fully on the monthly price as they actually increase the residual value such as metallic paint so worth checking.

Followed an R Estate tonight - although they've now fitted LED rear lights, they not got the same ones as the Mk7.5 GTI/GTD/R hatchback so no sweeping indicators. Assume they are a completely different fitment? Looked OK but didn't look particularly exciting. Don't think the Golf Estate is much to look at compared to some sporting estates.

Having had a 3, 5 and wagon in R format I actually prefer the estate and forgive it some of the rear end details it may miss, why do I like, its a bit more fun to drive as friskier, you don't see 20 everyday, its a real Q car and it does not really have any competition

I went for white on mine which looks great after 18 months, loved the lapiz but for me its very orange peely and was hard to look after

I think mine was about £200 a month and an absolute bargain, but it is purely rental white goods so is the hard driven daily which the tyres and front pads are indicating

Having owned an R i'd only ever rent one, mines done 25K now and only issues have been a stuck wheel bolt and an issue with the 12v

Did it not occur to you that the driver of that car might not like having his reg on a public forum?

Because it is quite easy to get the registered keeps address from the reg. It is well know that scum go through forums to get reg numbers to steel cars to order.

Yes. I don't see the problem with it.

Yes. I don't see the problem with it.

That may well be the case. They also use it for cloning cars to drive off without paying for fuel etc, but number plates can still be seen on the road. I would have thought that it would be far easier for a crook to spot a car that he fancies on the road, knowing that it is likely to be local to him, than it would be to go through pictures of cars on forums then have to sieve through them to work out which one will be less effort to liberate.

I've never had a car that's special enough for me to be attached to, so if someone wants to take it, good luck to them.

I know what you mean. I'd just go on Autotrader and look for a car on there, its like a database of number plates for every car with a filter for colours and models rather than using a forum and trying to find the right model in the right colour!

Well I’ve been quotes £3k down and £192 a month, or £2400 down with a higher monthly.

They have confirmed they can delay delivery for when her gtd goes back and it won’t be registered until delivery time.

Paperwork going in later.... decided on white because I like it and I’m tight ha ha

This could be a good deal, it could be bad. It's almost pointless putting just your monthly figure in.

You need to take your monthly payment, multiply it by the number of months, then add the deposit, and then divide by the number of months, then we know how much you're really paying per month. Then you need to include your mile allowance.

He may have put down a £10000 deposit, be on 5000 miles per year for 5 years. Not such a great deal now. Obviously this probably isn't the case, and it may be a good deal, but we just don't know.
Title: Re: Golf R Estate lease deals

Yes £107 a month Golf GTI DSG... £2400 down. 5k a year but that’s all I do. 2 year deal which I will extend to 3 years for the same monthly (did the same with our GTD). Manual was cheaper (£97)... I wished I hadnt ordered as the DSG box doesn’t work as well with the GTI in my opinion (done a separate thread on that).

We also have a GTD on a lease, £140 a month with £2400 deposit, on 8k miles a year. That goes back after 3 years hence the requirement for a new lease car.

Need more miles on R estate as it will be the main family car.

Lots of websites offer these cheap deals

Google central UK vehicle leasing for stupid cheap deals... you will be amazed at what you can get for your money these days

Title: Re: Golf R Estate lease deals

So that's £173 per month over 3 years.
Title: Re: Golf R Estate lease deals
Post by: Darlo on 29 November 2017, 15:42
Yes something like that.

Compared to pcp they make sense for me. Had a GTI on pcp prior to my S3. Put £3k down... paid £290 a month for two years and was in negative equity. Luckily managed to sell private and get £1800 back in my hand. Pcps don’t work for me unfortunately.

If I put £3500 on golf r estate on pcp they come out at £467 a month (according to vw calculator and no discount). £192 is a no brainier for me.

Agreed, when it's clean it is hands down my favourite colour. Bit of a shame they discontinued it because I'm not sure Atlantic Blue is as nice.

They've had to help each other out a bit recently, having major issues with the battery on the hatch.

How fast a car is, or more to the point how quickly it gets you to where you want to get to is all down to the driver. An . :R. shot past me in my Amarok this morning, then carried on passing everything in sight. 15 miles later he's in a queue in the left hand lane waitimg to turn into a retail park. I sailed up the empty right hand lane, did a full lap of the roundabout and got into the carpark about 10 cars ahead of him. So there you have it. A diesel pickup truck is officially faster point to point than a Golf .:R.

Never intended this to turn in to a GTI v R thread this is my opinion.... I have owned a mk 7 GTI Manual (with DTUK box), a mk7 GTI DSG (never modified) and in between a S3 Manual (with DTUK box).

Biggest problem with GTI is traction.... even worse with DSG box in my opinion. I don’t know if it’s better with the diff. It sometimes surprises my how nippy the GTI is in gear.

Once up and running there is little between a R and GTI and I would say a modified GTI once up and running would really push a standard R.

However my S3 (basically a golf r) was an absolute weapon with the box installed

The driver is obviously the biggest deciding factor.

In the most basic of willy waving stats however, the 0-60.... the R is considerably faster than the GTI

It's all just a bit of fun, and only an hour or so ago I had a bit of a 'between the lights' dash with an S3 driver.
He beat me to the lights but only after I'd slowed down due to being a bit sensible and not wanting to embarrass him
