Title: MK7.5 DSG Sport Mode Without High Revs
Post by: DTX3 on 23 November 2017, 13:36
Been playing around with the different drive modes. I'm preferring the sport mode for the quicker throttle response, however would prefer if it didn't keep the revs so high before changing up (don't want to sound like I'm racing every driver on the road  )

Is there a way to change this? Or will I have to drive sport in manual mode?

Set profile to custom and set it up in there.

I agree, there needs to be something in between S and D, I'm presuming you're referring to DSG.

Not sure what the other reply mentioning Custom profile is, maybe it means Individual and to change the drive settings to Sport - which will do exactly the same thing with the gears!

Yep DSG.

I'm guessing they meant Individual and yes exactly what you said. As soon as you choose Sport here it does the same thing.

Would be nice to have the throttle response of Sport and gear changes of Normal. Would it be worth investing in a pedal box perhaps?

Does the throttle response actually change in S?

Pedal box would fix that

While being in Sport mode flick the stick back once. This will keep everything in Sport mode but will set the DSG to D, sparing you from shameful, needless revving while having the quickest response from the engine. I don't use Sport mode because the steering is artificially and annoyingly heavy.

Instead I choose Individual mode and set Steering to Normal and Suspension to Comfort or Sport depending on the trip. I leave the DSG in S because I only use it in Manual mode anyway so the preset shift points are of no concern to me.

iirc you can set engine (not dsg) to sport in custom settings on driving profile selection.

The only way is to learn to drive it in DSG mode manual with either the stick or the paddles.

Yeah using the stick to move from S to D is a big improvement - S really only needed on the right road when making progress..

Yep tried that and it was the same unfortunately.  I'm getting the pedalbox now anyways ;)

If my experience is anything to go by I think you'll find that one of the best £150ish you'll spend on your car! May I suggest when you first try it you use a lower setting and build up. I went straight in for sport+ with 1 green light and until your foot learns how hard to now press it can be a bit surprising  but fun
