Post by: maxie on 11 November 2017, 13:54
hi all, well i've just been for my first 10mile drive and it's going to take some getting used to for sure after the mk5..  now i have a constant sound that's a bit like a hoover in the background is this as it is or  maybe my fuel pump or summut?  thanks.

i hear the noise in the cabin-drivers seat when everythings off :)  mk7.5 gti pp :)

What model have you and where is the sound coming from? Is it all the time, vary in pitch and volume at all? Still there at standstill and/or with engine off?

Water pump? Does it stop a while after turning the engine off?

There is a pump for the turbo iirc which will keep going after switching off so probably that.

could be my hearing i am getting older :)

don't i feel daft, it was the bloody fan.lol.  thanks for the help y'all....

on a side note it's booked in as the ACC front assist isn't working, yet the lane assist was today, and it will be getting turned off (lane assist) as i was going across a t junction with traffic lights and lanes and all of a sudden the car turned right (it was confused i think) :)
