Hi all...Just curious on a topic ...My car has been sitting in Emden for 16days waiting to ship . I feel this is outrageous seeing as there is a daily boat to and from Emden /Grimsby and ppl with same build week on this forum already have there vehicles ..anyone experienced the same ..?
-
Mine spent 15 days at Emden, apparently it's arrived at the port of Tyne late last night on the City of Sunderland.
-
Frustrating but hold tight, you'll be driving it soon and the wait will be a distant memory!
-
Have you waited six months from order yet? If not, stop moaning.
-
Counted to ten, not what my reply was going to be.
-
Daily boats to and from Emden? Not likely and as others have said when your wait approaches 6 months then you can whine!
-
If only we had a “current delivery times” thread
There are many behind the OP, I ordered July 14th and mine was only built this week afaik... so still a month or so to go.
Life’s too short to get uptight OP, relax it will be be here when it’s here.
-
Never used to be like this pre brexit

chipper one you are ..

Yes daily route being currently sailed by the Wesser Highway ..check trip tracking for the last 2 weeks or so ...obviously not the same day turn around but its seems to be a 48hr round trip..so maybe not daily
anyway clearly plenty of tension from those who have been waiting for longer ..ill take it on the chin and feel your pain...all be it with a bit more class...
-

Yeah its grim up north laddy.
BTW why is your car going to Grimsby if you are in London? Sheerness surely...

Hey Freddy
I thinks its grim everywhere
My dealer is up North so I think that's why but at this point its the only info I have ...I do feel for those waiting 6 months ..regardless the circumstances in today's day and age it a long time !!
-
6 months? Pah! You lightweights! 8 months and more then you can whinge.
-

Because that’s how long it took. Allegedly delay on the wheels. Was worth the wait.

It was eight months for me when I bought my mk6 Golf. It takes as long as it takes............and yes, it will be worth the wait but stressing over the wait will probably just make the wait seem longer.

True, but it does drag on. I know people who waited 11 months and one who waited more than 12 months!
-
Assuming I collect this weekend which I hope, next week at the latest, my wait will have been 19 weeks.
Really is a bit silly for a run of the mill mass produced car but guess that's how VW operate. Having said that I waited 9 months for my Macan but that was good as they told me 12 to 18 months when ordering!!
Looking forward to the GTi, haven't even test driven one but had a GTD for nearly 4 years so know it will be similar but better. Going DSG this time which I can't wait for as well, had a dealer demo for the past 2 or 3 weeks as I sold my GTD, its a GT DSG and really like the box.

Its parked somewhere close to you ...just had word it arrived around midnight in Grimsby...pop your head out the window and see if you can see White Silver  ing 5door waiting for me !...PS please tell them to hurry up

NOOOOOOOOO dont be a fool .... :smug: ITS THE ONE with the boot open and the 7 illegals making a run for
-
Ahhh it could be the one with the GreenPeace protestors standing on the roof?
-
:kiss:Thats mine .....

I know ...love it and worried at the same time ...colour just doesnt "sit still"...looks amazing on second and baby blue the next ....seen some pic where I think WOW!!!! and other where im like ...oh :undecided:
-
Its definitely an interesting colour. If I had seen it before it was too late, I'd have probably changed to it.
-
Saw one of these at my dealership and sorry to say but the colour is naff. Just doesn't do anything at all. Sorry
-
McD nooooooooooooooooooooo !!! I know know ...its a marmite colour ...ive seen a few and each time it looks unique ...but to late now...as long as he is sound and does the job ill be pleased
-
I'm not keen on white silver, looks weird when you first see it. Looks like a base coat. Each to their own, I'm sure with the right products on the paint it could look good :undecided:
-
I'm also in the no camp for white silver. Really wanted to like it but having seen quite a few cars at dealers it really is a very light dull flat grey. If going white then Pure White looks a million times better.
-
Thats it lads keep it coming
....i realised something quite early on maybe to late ...looks amazing in the sun light but does tend to die in the shade or overcast conditions ..luckily we lve in the worlds sunshine capital
Found this a few weeks ago ... perfect example of WS vs W ....

Has your car actually need made it to the uk yet?
-
I have a Tungsten silver GTi and would happily own a white CS. I really like the silver white colour on the Mini Cooper S.
There is a new white silver GTi local to me, it just doesn't work for me at all.
VW really seem to offer these colours that don't work?
I looked at a limestone grey GTi and could only see an earthy brownish, grey, fine for a Passat.
No offence meant to anyone who ordered one, maybe it will grow on me with familiarity?
-
Unfortunately the range of colours for the so called performance Golfs has got to be the poorest choice ever.
Bring back Carbon Grey and Reflex Silver would be a start !!
-
I've seen a few WS GTD and GTi's I like it most of the time. I seen a purple GTiin the sun the other day and I actually liked it. It had 19" wheels and a sunroof so not a cheap lease either.
-
The current range of colours is exceptionally poor with the exception of Pure White which looks great on a performance Golf. However having had a pure white GTD for nearly 4 years a change was needed. Also think red looks good but I'm not a red car person for whatever Reason and my wife is even less so.
Hence the Indium Grey box was ticked as best of the rest.
-
Reflex silver is back, at least it was in the Sept Irish spec sheet for the performance golfs. It had a TBC next to the colour listed along side the other colours.
-
Car finally on its way to the dealers ...had transport assigned on the 13th dont know if that means thats when it was actually loaded and sent on its way . will touch base with the dealer today to find out .
In regards to the white Silver , if anything its different and not in a vile way like when you see Lumo cars etc ...it will stand out some will like it others wont ...Im sure Ill grow to love it
-
I think the colour is fine.
You have to remember 99% of UK new car buyers are sheep and can't see beyond black, white, grey/silver or if they are a bit of a rebel, red.
Which is why VW UK only offer those colours pretty much, because the others available in Germany wouldn't sell.
Although I don't understand that, because offering a colour doesn't actually cost anything other than another one of those plastic paint sample squares for the dealership wall!
-
Haha, so I'm a rebel?
TBH, I wanted a bright colour. Black/White/Silver/Grey don't really do it for me, so it had to be Tornado Red on this one.
-
Also, this is why VW's offer of free purple paint is such an obvious money play... people absolutely won't want purple and will pay good money to avoid it. Hell, even I paid money to avoid it!
Does anyone on here have/ordered a purple Golf?
-
@Coco ...your  !!! ....seen red a few times and I must say it looks wicked , must be kept clean thought as like most I guess it tends to die a little when its dirty ...
@Fred...Ive seen a few purples ....funnily enough doesnt look all that bad...in fact the dirtier Ive see some the better they look :undecided:
end of the day when your getting something as special as a GTI in my case my first 1 you dont want it to look like the rest ...as you said baaaaaaaaaaaa
-
My last GTD I went with Limestone... which was a mistake for sure. Its metallic beige really. Hated it pretty much for 3 years.
I have white now, because I really wanted something different but not black/grey... its difficult and I wish VW UK would get a grip and grow a pair.

Re Delivery Times. GTD ordered 2nd October and it arrived at the dealer on Wednesday 15 November.

That's absolutely flown through, you lucky bugger! Confused at the build week, did you typo 44?
I ordered my GTD on the 3rd October and it's currently sat at Emden!
