Title: Mk7 and 7.5 prices... so much variance?
Post by: Jim_mk7.5 on 02 October 2017, 18:16
So I was browsing Autotrader as I often do (more of my interest for cars than making a purchase!), and was interesting to see such a wide variance of used/new near prices for 2017 year GTI/Clubsport and R versions of the Golf.

For instance, just at the £28k mark only gets you the following:

1. '17 5dr Manual Mk7.5 R with under 5k miles
2. '66 5dr DSG Mk7 R with 5.5k miles
3. '67 5dr Manual Mk7.5 GTI PP with 19s, 1.5k miles
4. '17 5dr DSG Mk7 CS40 with 8k miles

Cheapest Mk7.5 GTI looks to be under £24k, great value if you want a manual 3dr.

Lots of CS40 as well, including virtually un-driven ones. Did they struggle selling these in 2016?

Seems just a wide array of pricing, no idea how non facelift R's are virtually same price as facelift models.

Anyone bought a 2nd one recently, what you pay and what made you for it over all the others?

Ha, yes I find myself just looking at all sorts but as a result, I generally know what cars are worth how much as all my mates come and ask me about stuff like that when they are buying or selling!

The variance in Golfs though I was surprised at, just thought i'd throw it out there to the forum for anyone else views

Yeah but you have to set yourself a budget though. I quite fancy a TR6 myself. All I need to do is win the lotto and lose a few stone to fit in it.

Same with my wife, thinks I'm mad.

I don't have budgets as it's assumed the lotto win is in the bank. Also assumed I've got a massive barn to keep them all in. TR6, very nice, room for one of those or a TR5 plus a Citroen SM, Morris Traveller for the OH, an Alfa SZ perhaps and numerous others  Sorry OP, this is going a bit off piste (ooh, reminds me, an early Quattro too).
