I've had my GTI for nearly 3 months and on pick day spent most of journey home playing around with the different configurations for the AID, which seems to have a lot of different options. I came to the conclusion that it actually doesn't show that enough information so left it on this screen below which I actually like as the dials are smaller and you can zoom in and out on the map if you need it. AID is good and clear and don't miss normal dials, these are the future for sure.

In the last week or so I thought I'd best try out some other options but I still don't think it show that much. Been trying this setting below but I do prefer the smaller dials and it only shows mpg and range. Shame its not got the single rev counter option that Audi's RS models have as think that would be great. The driving data is poor as doesn't show overview of everything which would be good but can only get this on main screen.

Whats everyone else settled on or do you find yourself flicking though still??

Can you have the map on display but also oil temp?
-
Don't really like the map on the console display, looks a bit too messy. I normally drive with the map on the central console screen as I am rarely driving with nav active but like the look of the map there.
-
I've had mine a few months now and finding the happy spot took some time.
I go with the Speed and Gears display mode for 99% of the time. Usually with driving data of mpg since start to show me that I need to calm down.
If am using VW Nav then I have found that instead of just putting the map between Speed and Gears, swapping to Navigation is better - because you get the maneuver details on the clocks.
On the other hand, my 1500 quid navpro even with carnet active for traffic is poor compared to Google or Wayez via Android Auto.
When those are active, you can't use any of the nav display stuff on the AID anyway.
Meh.

Think the temp that displays is just water temp and can't be changed same as fuel display can't be changed.

Thanks, i was sure the GTI came with an Oil Temp reading (think it was in the menu)? Just like the GTD. I find it very useful and was hoping there would be one on the GTI.

Thats all on the performance monitor, which is only displayed on the MIB.

Not strictly true. On driving data you can select stuff like speed, all the consumption info and oil temp, but you can only view one at a time... But yes it also can be seen on the performance monitor as well

Thanks guys, that display looks very crisp
Can't wait to get mine

Another question about the display
Can you configure what info you have between the speed and rev counter. And in the middle of the speedo and in the middle of the rev counter.
For me i would have -
Middle of rev counter - Oil temp
Middle of speedo - Fuel Range
Between speedo and rev counter - sat nav or stereo info
-
For me, the AID is good, but could be SO much better ...
My two main gripes ..
Not being able to see "Classic" view - where the speedo and rev counter show full needles. This is available on other VW models with AID, but not the Golf ... why ???
The white fuel needle against white tick marks. It is sometimes very difficult to see where the needle is ... kind of defeats the whole point of the AID. Yes, I know you can have the remaining range displayed, but surely a clear fuel gauge is not too much to ask !!
-
When the fuel level is low, triggering the low fuel warning, the fuel gauge on the AID starts showing the remaining range... I only noticed this the other day!

I noticed that on the first picture of this thread, i reckon that's a nice little feature.

Would need to check but yes you can change whats displayed in middle of rev and speedo independent of whats shown in between them both.

I don't think you can change any of the clock setups - each "view" has canned options. Great if you can find a view you like, not so great if you want something else.
The only bit you can change is what is displayed between the dials, just like the old MFD on the Mk7 analogue dash display. The only new thing you can get between the dials is the map from the nav system. If you have basic nav, you choose between it being on the MIB or the AID. If you have NavPro, you can have it on both at the same time and in fact different views on each - I have a 1 mile zoom on the MIB and 200 metres on the AID for junction navigation.

Yeah think there are a number of set options for in each dial, not been through them all.
I have basic nav and can have turn options on the main screen and a map on the AID which you can then zoom in and out on as required.
AID is good but by no means perfect. Do I prefer it to normal dials? Definitely.

I agree with Tony - the white fuel needle against white tick marks is not as clear to see - it could have been better configured, but generally I do like the AID!
