Title: Exhuast rattle?
Post by: mattwilko92 on 19 September 2017, 22:08
My 1 year old mk7 gti seems to have developed a strange rattle on the exhuast. Only happens when the revs are descending under 3k rpm. Is this a known issue?

Booked into the dealer for investigation and always like to go armed if its known.

I've got something similar on mine but it sometimes sounds like a whining fuel pump. Only happens off throttle and at speeds from 20mph descending.

Just to update this, i ended up having a whole new middle to back section on the exhaust. VW seem to think the baffles in the mid section may have failed.

Either way its cured it, not what you expect for a car under a year old but hey, thats what warranty is for.

Also how do you make your GTI feel faster? Drive a Tiguan for 6 days :-)

I think I've got the same noise on mine. What I thought was a fuel pump whine send to be something rattling. Can hear it more closely with door open and a little blip of the throttle.
