Title: Movie: Trackday GTI PP Facelift!*Drone movie now!*
Post by: Wide on 19 September 2017, 19:29
So finally the first trackday was finalized.

The car went above expectations and my new Cont 6 was extremely sticky when I lowered the air pressure really when they were hot ...

No incidents without burning in the front brakes after tire rubber stuck on the brake disc .. :).

Then I finally got up and talk a bit in video  ;)

Enjoy!

Great vid!

Kind of reminds me of my journey to work!!
(obviously the latter is done in slow motion due to speed limits)  :nerd:

That looked like fun though, the car goes well and sounds really good too. :afro:
New tyres and brakes needed now?

  :grin:Thanks!,

Yes the car was great :) The Performance pack brakes had no isues. Pretty hard brake from 200 to around 60 every lap

The day before it was the Swedish "BTCC" final at this track. So it ws much tire rubber on the track.. My tires look a little bit funny now, they have Slick rubber on them.....I hope it will disappear

But know the car is running in..

It will soon be time for winter wheels for you I'd guess?

You can keep the now semi-slick Michelins for next summer

You should have pushed more! (joking of-course, you should only push as far as you feel comfortable) Your tires look ok, maybe a bit over-inflated for the track if what I see in the photos is extra wear at the middle, did you remove couple of psi before hot-lapping?

Mine look worse than yours after I experienced Sturup Raceway last Saturday and its super slow tight corners:

You were doing pretty well there, especially with the weight of a passenger added.

Feel the Golf Powah!

BTW is your GoPro mount a shower curtain rail from Ikea?

I had 48PSI after the first stint!!, not good... Lowered to 40 PSI and it feelt great

Glad I could help, another tip is when you get into the car and have your seat in the best position, recline it a little and put your belt on, then pull it sharply to get it to lock into position and while keeping hold of the belt move your seat back back up to the on track seat position so that the belt is really tight. It helps to hold you in in your seat when you don't have a harness fitted.

Yes with the Clubsport, I shall upload the video but not here, don't want to hijack your thread! tires were squealing like pigs in the sausage cue

Yep 48 psi is a lot. Always remember to drop a few psi's before lapping and you'll be fine.

Great video Wide!! It's amazing how capable these cars are when fitted with decent tyres and brake pads.

How were the oil temperatures?

Keep the videos coming.

Thanks!, i do my best. But don´t think a youtuber is my future . I think i stick to be a engineer for income

But i will do to the point you don´t like it anymore..

Yes with my aftermarket wheels and tires, a don´t need more speed. I have to train more instead in driving.. .

But i look at some R tires, because of the ware on my street tires that trackdays do...

The oil temp is 106-108 C!, you can see that in my "virtual cockpit". And the Water is around 100C. So this is not higher than on normal road trip!!. That is nice!
