Has anyone had a dealer retrofit a VW rear camera?
If so what was the total cost and what is the performance like?
The damn tailgaters either want to come in and join me or my debadged motor makes them curious?
Whatever, I will be rear ended sooner or later so want to be prepared.
Thanks in advance.
PS - it runs like a dream!

I don't think VW do a rear camera that will help in your situation.
Best bet is a dashcam with front and rear views (either combined or with the additional camera that fits inside the rear window).
-
Camera only activates when you select reverse doesn't it?
-
Although there is a speed setting (in vcds/obd11) to tell the camera to end and close the badge, plus it doesn't record

As others have said, its not a reversing camera that a VW might be able to retrofit that you want. Its a rear facing dashcam, have a google.

Thanks guys and gals.
My mistake
Had some kid pulling wheelies right behind me today, so close I thought he was trying to land his front wheel on my boot lid
Now researching a rear facing (dash type) cam in earnest!!!

Thinkware f770 is a great bit of kit which I can highly recommend.

Many thanks for that.
I will try and find someone who will fit and hardwire one, plus my dash cam all at the same time.

you can also fit a 2 channel kit, but that involves running wires from the front camera to the rear camera which you mount in the rear window.
Blackvue, & various other do these
Good place for info & forum etc..

You can buy the f770 as a two channel front and rear camera kit. Sounds like you already have a front camera, which one and do they not do a matching rear?
