Noticed im having to put a little input to the right just to keep the car going straight. Happens on motorway, 30 roads etc. Ive had the alignment done by a laser tracker by a very good garage ive used before it was slightly out and corrected, but its not helped.
500 miles on the clock now and not getting any better.
What should I do?

On a brand new car, take it back to VW, book it in with their tech to go out for fault finding, make sure you are in the car when they drive to demonstrate theres an issue.

On my GTD, I hit a pothole on the left and the car started pulling right. Took it to a local garage and had them do the 4 wheel laser alignment. Drove out of the garage, drove the car up to a roundabout, round the roundabout and back to the garage. It was no better. They had another guy look at the car. He spent twice as long setting up the car and fixed it.
After I get my new tyres fitted this week, I'm going to book the car in to a garage that has the Hunter Hawkeye laser alignment system. Perhaps you should find a garage with that system.

I had the same problem with 2 previous cars. Scirocco R and Edition 35 which were both brand new. Took both cars back to VW and they paid for the cars to have the alignment done but didn't help at all. Just had to put up with it in the end. I would definitely take it back to VW and see what they car do. Hopefully they can sort it for you.

The place I went to has a laser alignment. He is a really good guy and said come back if any issues so will call him again see if he can take another look.
If the steering is actually 'off' from factory I take it only vw will fix that?

I have heard of steering wheels being put on slightly off from factory. VW should be able to take it off and hopefully realign it for you. I would take it back to have the alignment checked again. Did VW pay for it to be done last time?

I did take the car out a week before collection for a quick drive on dealer plates and asked them to take a look as i could tell it was off center, but they either havent or did and didnt do a good enough job.
Ive got the invoice and printout for the alignment yesterday so I will get vw to refund me.
Im hoping its as simple as the wheel was t atraight when the alignment was done yesterday so it will still be off center

Hopefully that's all it is mate. Give us a shout back to let us know how it goes. Hopefully they sort it for you and VW reimburse you for the cost.

Noticed im having to put a little input to the right just to keep the car going straight.
So the car is pulling to the left? That sounds like an alignment issue.
When you hold the steering wheel straight, if the car goes straight, then the steering wheel is on ok.
I know that my VW dealer uses a local tyre depot. They sent me over there to get alignment done when my Mk6 GTD was eating winter tyres. Neither them or my local depot use the Hunter Hawkeye system. They may have been using the Supertracker system. :undecided: A lot depends on the system and the bloke using it!

My explanation wasnt great in my first post, basically I'm having to keep the steering wheel at 1oclock just to keep the car going in a straight line. If i let go of the wheel after a few seconds the car will veer to the left. If I maintain a 1oclock position the car stays dead straight.

You need to find a local-ish place with one of these
(http://www.hunter.com/portals/0/Images/the-new-last-step-in-alignment-service.jpg)
And get

I guess your steer ahead is well out.
