I had the wipers in the service position to wash the car today. When I put them back onto the screen, the offside one was well over the A pillar. I was able to push it back onto the screen without any resistance and the nearside wiper moved with it. I flicked the stalk to park them properly, tried to move them by hand and they were locked, just like they should be. I take it that they have this clever little trick built into the wiper mech. I can't say I noticed it on the Mk6 or the Passat and the Amarok doesn't do it.
This car is full of little suprises.

I was wondering how to get them in the service position, but don't find it too much of issue cleaning under so didn't start searching!
My previous car, W205 C-Class was great - you could just move them in their normal sweeping position by hand and then push them back when done or leave them and they'd return on start up

They do move quite freely in the service position

I was wondering how to get them in the service position,
Ignition on, then turn off, then flick the wiper stalk down once. To go back to the normal position, ignition on, then flick down once.
I'm not sure how it works with keyless.

Works exactly the same for keyless, but you push a button to start ignition instead of turning a key, then push button again tomturn ignition off.

^^^ As Rebecca says! ^^^
If you don't have your foot on the brake at the same time, pushing the keyless start button just turns the ignition on without starting the engine. You still need the key fob to be in range, though.
