I assume there is no issue putting my cherished reg onto my incoming lease car? Do I need anything in writing from the lease company confirming they have no interest in the reg.
-
I think there will be a formal process you have to go through with the lease company and they will also probably charge you for the privilege
-
I've just put mine on a VWFS car you will have to add the lease company as a nominee on your retention certificate i didn't have to pay anything to VW ill just have to pay the normal retention fee to the DVLA at the end of lease to get the reg back on retention.
-
How long did it take to add VWFS as a nominee? Thanks.
-
it was about two weeks but i sent it over a bank holiday weekend.
-
Is it an online process to make VWFS a nominee on the retention cert?
-
It was a fill in and post job.
-
Then what happens when it comes time to return the car and take the registration off. Do you need to start this process a few weeks in advance? And do VW need to do anything to make the transfer off the lease car effective.
-
I didn't have to do any of that on both my GTIs. I simply handed over the retention certificate to my dealer 1 week before handover and the car came straight with my private plate. Upon returning the car back, a few days before that just do the online retention process with DVLA, pay the retention fee and they will assign a random plate for the car's age. You then take off your private plates off the car and put the random ones and then you can assign the private plate to another car.

Assume your cars are leased are they? Sounds much simpler what you did.
-
Yes, they are leased via VWFS.
-
I'm sure on my lease agreement VWFS charge a admin fee so I never put the one I took off mine on it, too much hassle for a rental for me

As long its your name on the log book and not the dealers or leasing company...no problem. You are the registered keeper of the vehicle
