Title: mk 7 GTI intake Manifold flap runner/ position error
Post by: chrisgolf1 on 10 July 2017, 07:56
Hi,

I'm new to this forum. I've had a few woes with my otherwise lovely 2013 GTI mk 7 recently the latest being the engine management light coming on with an intake manifold flap position sensor fault. It's only had a quick preliminary diagnosis and needs to go back in in a couple of weeks for further investigation. The car drives fine.

Apparently this fault is a big problem on the Mk6 GTI to the extent that VW extended the warranty on the manifold to 100,000 miles (and 10 years I think). My question is whether anybody knows if the extended warranty also applies to the Mk7? I'm looking at £600 parts and labour if it needs replacing.

Going off-topic a bit but the other problem just fixed was a leaky coolant valve that managed to trash my engine wiring loom which needed complete replacement. Very unusual in a 4 year old car I would think!

Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Cheers

Sorry to hear you have had so much hassle, it all sounds a little scary for us mk7 owners.

What is the mileage of the car when the issues started?

Mate had this on his MK6 GTI. Had to replace the whole intake manifold. Cost wise, £150 for the manifold from china, £10 for the gasket from TPS, and £80 labour. All in all it cost him £240, which isn't the end of the world.
