Are the r400 alloys worth considering? There are a few listings around, I like the design and seem subtly different to cadiz and not expensive but not sure of quality, I assume there are no genuine vw ones around.

Maybe cast your net further than eBay.

Depends on what you want and what your budget is?
18" and reuse existing tyres or going for 19's?
Are you planning on trackdays or just road use?
mk7's are quite fussy as to what wheel design suits and tastes vary from person to person.
Most factory wheels come with polished faces that don't like winters so what's your cleaning regime like? Are you a regular car washer that only uses gentle soaps or do you use automatic car washes and the Eastern Europeans?

I'm a fan of BBS alloys. I think that BBS SR's in satin grey colour look good on the mk7 Golf (also available with polished face); forum member Gnasher has these on his mk7. Available in 18" and 19" for the Golf and IMO they look quite OEM;

I also like VW Rotary alloys, which are 18" and have an anthracite powder coated finish. Forum member wigit had these on his mk7 R and I had a set on my mk6 GTD;

To the OP; Both the above suggestions are more expensive than the reps you've been considering on eBay and you might not like this style/design of wheel. However, there always seems to be a fairly good demand for good quality alloys if you ever decide to sell them, so provided they're kept good condition you'd recoup a reasonable amount of your initial outlay.

My current favourites for a mk7 are Borbet FF1.
Flow Formed (hence name) in 18" and cast in 19"
Very light and surpringly affordable in 18" but hideously expensive in cast 19"

Borbet being an OEM manufacturer and all their wheels are TUV approved unlike Chinese reps.
A great site for viewing wheels on cars is felgenoutlet.de just click on the English tab and away you go.
Tyreleader are usually a bit cheaper but their website is nowhere near as good. Most U.K. based importers of wheels tend to be very pricey.
