Hi all. Just thought I'd give a quick review of my first month or so with my first GTI. (2016) My previous cars have mostly been hot hatches, ibiza fr, cupra and lastly astra j vxr. The astra was stage two and around 320 bhp, and whilst it went very well, it was quite hard to live with. It had VERY hard suspension which translated into a harsh ride, and was generally quite a heavy car, both in terms of dynamics and gear change etc.
The golf by comparison is so much easier to live with! It does everything so well and without fuss. I cant believe how much lighter it feels, particulary along a b road. I also find the tech and equipment fantastic; the media centre is excellent!
I've made a few mods to the car, the main one being a dtuk box. I currently have this on map 1, boost +2 which I find very smooth but also very eager when I want it to be. I've changed a few cosmetic features as well, such as pp red badges and a swage line stripe. I've a few more plans for the car, but mostly just visual ones.
Overall I'm so impressed with the car and am very pleased I made the switch. I've wanted a GTI since I started driving 11 years ago, and am happy to finally have one!

Looks great and you appear to be looking after it very well judging by the shine

Not sure why I wasn't seeming the link but I can now. Really liking the swage line.

Looks really good, being a recent Gti owner totally agree with your comments, especially on it's B road talents!

Thanks for the comments guys! One thing I was wondering was regarding boost gauges on the media display. I believe some cars have this as a display within the car option alongside consumption and think blue etc. Is this something that can be done via a dealer update ? Thanks

Sounds good.
Mine is arriving mid-September and I am starting to get inpatient now.

Don't think so and after you have looked at it for a bit you'll never use it again anyway, a bit gimmicky if you ask me.

I have a Golf R with the boost gauge display on Nav Pro and found the position of it being on the Nav Pro screen, just out of direct line of sight when driving, can make you feel a little nauseous.
It is definitiely a gimmick. Nice to have, but I have never found myself looking for it, even when in the car on my own.

Nice looking car Mjr and good to see you're enjoying it.
Like Brenbo, I have the digital gauges and like Brenbo I too find them near impossible to read when on the move. They are very much a gimmick, set far too low down. The Leon has a similar/same headinit but it's much higher in the dash. It doesn't look as pretty a design being set so high but it's far more useable and more importantly so is the map when you're on the Nav screen.
AID is even better in that score but that's neither here nor there for this thread.
