Title: GTI PP badges
Post by: Boulton on 25 June 2017, 13:03
How difficult is it to fit the red GTI badges that are on the front grille and back of the PP and Clubsport models to my standard GTI?

Petty thing I know but I just think they set the car off better!

Rear is stick on, the front is clips once you remove the front grill. Simple job.

Probably cheaper and easier to get some red skins here http://www.badgeskins.com/mk7.html

I'd get the proper badges. Quite easy to do, just make sure you mark the original position of the rear badge

Can you get the badges from a Volkswagen dealership directly?

I got the red Gti badges fitted at dealers once they got the car prior to me collecting it free to fit but I had to pay for both front and rear badges .
When I wanted to change the wing blades I went with badge skins and tbh I wasn't dissatisfied perfect fit on the original blades easy to fit and cheaper had I known about the badge skins for the front and rear badges I would have gone that route at the start

That's great. I'll speak to my dealership tomorrow. I pick it up on Thursday. So hopefully can get it done for then. Did you physically but the badges at the dealer or order them online and then the dealer fit them?

I wonder if these red badges explain why people think they are seeing Mk7.5 GTI Performance cars.

The PP car has only been available in the UK for 8 weeks.

Applied the red badgeskins to my 7.5GTD. Impressed by service & quality:

That is a well nice and for the money they cost, a dam good bang/book addition.

Really undecided between your colour and tungsten.

I ordered the badges through the dealer I was buying the car from then once they received it they fitted the badges for me (  FOC ) prior to me collecting it from them

Hope you don't get caught out at the traffic lights with the red badges and not any extra power....

Bang for your book, that's a new one!

Think the GTI badges in red look ok with the red GTI details through the grill and lights but not sure they go with the silver and lack of red of the GTD. Think maybe black may have looked better. IMO

I'll admit it here and now, I always thought it was bang for your book. Not sure why I didn't make the connection because I'm not usually tick as sh!t. I did always think it was a bit strange   :embarrassed:

I used badgeskins in the end. Looks brilliant, and so easy to apply. Will post pictures later

Do the badge skins just stick over the original badges? Is it an easy job to do?

They might look good on my incoming indium Grey GTi.

I was thinking of same for mine but gloss black as red looks a bit like up-badging.

Yes, they do. The Badgeskins website has a section showing how to apply them. Link;

Yes going red is a bit of up badging but given only experts like us guys would know that I think it's ok. To most people it will just look that bit better and they will not even know the badges were changed.

I wonder if Mk7 GTi "red" badges will ever increase in value. I used to own a Corrado VR6 Storm and the badges on that to replace would now cost a small fortune

How long does delivery take? I've emailed them days ago but not heard back. Not great for customer service.

I got an email confirmation almost immediately and badgeskins arrived within a week from the US.

GTI PP badges are beautiful looking things although I'm not sure if they will increase in value :undecided:
I might order a spare set just in case though
