Was just looking at tyrereview.co.uk and spotted this video. He just happens to be using a Mk7 Golf GTI for the test
The differences between 17,18 & 19 inch tyres tested and explained - https://youtu.be/mPyg3ilw3KU (https://youtu.be/mPyg3ilw3KU)
Edit: the UK configurator lists the wrong tyre sizes for the GTI. The review is correct.

Good find Daz :afro:
He got the tyre size correct. The GTI comes with 225/35/19 not 235.
The 19" GTI wheels he used are 7.5" wide (from mk6) and are the correct spec for a mk7.
The Santiagos and Brescias are 7.5"
The only exception was the CS & CSS option of Pretorias which are 8" wide so use 235 tyres.
:nerd:

You are right, but it does come with both. The Brescia alloys are 225 and the Santiago alloys are 235.
Unless the configurator is wrong again :undecided:

GTi and GTD use only 225/35/19 but the R uses 235/35/19

Unfortunately the configurator (in the UK at least) is one of the least reliable sources of facts.
Santiagos are 7.5x19 and wear 225's.
In early VW UK ClubSport literature the Brescias were touted as being 8" wide and wearing 235's so that too was wrong.
Possibly the Worthersee show ClubSport in 2015 may have been wearing different spec pre production 19" wheels and tyres for show purposes (look more beefy on static display) but alas VW UK didn't check their facts before printing.
Maybe VW UK should employ us to check stuff instead of marketing guys and girls who clearly have little interest in what they're promoting.

Best in dry - 19 inch (sharpest handling)
Best in wet - 17 inch (most predictable)
Best for NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) - 17 most comfortable, but 18 quietest
Best all round tyre size for the Golf GTI - 18 inch
Edit: or watch 8:10 to 9:20.

These tyres are crazy good!. I picked them to my new wheels!
It very intressting that he says that is bigger diffrent between brands then size
My 19" 235 are much quieter than the stock Bridgestone Potenza in 18" 225..

Wooden cart wheels would be quieter than the Bridgestone tyres.
