So woke up Saturday morning to find that one of my headlight lenses has broken off about a 2 inch peice and the daytime running light has stopped working. Looks like it's taken an impact or some description as it has a scuff mark on the remaining lease. Has anyone else experienced this or know how much it might cost to fix? Cheers

VW fix = new headlight = $$$

Gone to my friendly local independent garage for a quote. Had a look online and it doesn't look good, £400 or more
-
Yeah unfortunately the headlight comes in one piece... it was never going to be cheap. Unless you try a breakers?
-
Gonna see what the quote comes back as. But yeah , may well have to be a breakers

Just had a quick look on eBay and there's a set of them without bulbs and ballasts for £400
-
Thanks mate. Quote from garage was £766 including fitting!
On a positive note I've found a used one on eBay for £300

Feck me pink, for just a headlight or were they trying to pull a fast one and charge for the bulb and ballast as well?
-
I think they might come with the bulbs and ballasts anyway. a few years ago I needed a new ballast for my Passat. It was something like £350 from TPS. A complete headlight with bulbs and ballast was just over £400.
-
Does that include all of the bendy motorised bits?
-
No Fred, will need to swap over the ancillaries from my headlight.

They striped out the whole light, are you sure they didn't just take out the bulbs and ballast?

Sorry, yeah I meant bulbs and ballast!
